Let me first start by saying I do not have a acetylene torch, or access to one. Can't weld, either.
I'm trying to figure out a plan for my exhaust manifold gasket job. I have one sleeve nut that was a pain to get off, and it was due to cross threading (previous owner, or last wrench to work on that area of the car).
I took a 3/8 24 die to try to save the threads, but can only get it about 5 turns on the stud before it stops. Trying not to snap off the stud.
Since I can't get two nuts on the damaged thread stud to remove, I'm not sure what else I can do.
So, if I'm out of tricks, I will complete the job one one side, button up the damaged side the best I can, and let an exhaust shop tackle the issue.
Thanks for any help, Bill
