I Just Can't Win - ACC Carpet Fail

I bought mine from Rock Auto a little over 2 years ago with the extra padding and it was nothing like what you guys are showing but could have fit tighter to the trans tunnel. Overall I was happy with it.
 
Trim Parts sold off the carpet line to ACC at the first of October of this year, so ACC is pretty much your one and only supplier now of automotive carpet.
 
I'm in the market for carpet and have been told to order without the backing. No excuse for poor workmanship. It happens with companies that get too big too fast, or think they have the market cornered!

What I'm hearing really sucks!
 
I don't know how ACC is now, but 15 years ago they color matched a carpet sample from my T7 bronze 69 Coronet 500. Fender tag code, but I don't have a photo of the carpet...

Frankly, ACC carpets are NOT garbage.....I would buy one again in a heart beat.....Even if there was 20 vendors selling them.....

Customer service 101 ACC and Rock Auto stepped up no question for the OP to make things right.....Sure you have the part now in yours hands you cannot use but everything today is a waiting game.......Trust me I do know how that feels....
 
ACC is located in Anniston, Alabama. Those of you who went through USAMPS US Army Military Police School and/or CID Academy as I did know where that is (moved to Ft Leonard Wood, MO early 2000s). ACC customer service is one on one on the phone with little to no wait time. Michelle, who has the sweetest southern accent (think Gone With the Wind), told me they let the carpet sets sit for a couple of hours after they are removed from the mold before hand rolling them and placing them in boxes. She said sometimes they miss things but that backing could slip when the carpet gets rolled up tight to go into that little box. I had to roll it twice to get it to go back into the box to return it. So, I can see how that could happen. She had no explanation for the crooked rear section and will show the photos to their production manager Monday.

As far as whether these come from ACC with a grommet for the dimmer switch, they do not; they come just like the picture above. This was brought up in another thread and I wanted to talk about it again here. Some cars came with some without. I want the grommet since I think it looks better that way. One of the other ACC customer service reps I spoke to Monday when I called about the grommet question said she would mail one to me free of charge since these sets do not come with them.

As far as ordering direct from ACC, it is about double the price. RockAuto and other vendors sells thousands of ACC carpet sets and can sell for a lower price. I paid $117 at RockAuto for just the carpet set. The same carpet set ordered directly from ACC was was well over $200.

One tip Michelle gave me for test fitting/installation was laying the carpet in the car for at least a few hours if not days and let it form to the floor pans. This obviously works when the temps are warm enough to relax the carpet.

I'll update this thread next week.

I let mine sit for 5 months on a floor pan....lol....A steamer helps miles if you have one....It boils down to the skill level of the installer....

I have installed many carpets and I have yet to have one that simply fits with with minimal adjustments....
 
The carpet the paint shop ruined was in the car for 5 years. It was hard to re-install after pulling it to install FatMat and stereo cables. I can imagine it will be much more difficult starting with brand new carpet.

I am lost again....was this a carpet you installed or the way you purchased it?

I though we are talking about "NEW" ACC carpet and prior to installation?

If you bought it that way are you sure it was ACC? 5 years ago there were other vendors.....

I have used ACC since 1984 and in 15 different cars. Always fit well and decent quality. The last two ACC carpert sets were poor quality. And the last one was for a 4 speed....what a joke not even a close fit. I am done with them. I use Trimparts now very nice fit and quality. Way better than ACC's garbage ..

TRIM PARTS was BOUGHT by ACC.

Since you have not read the postings...Go buy it from them and post what box in comes in...lol

I just installed a ACC 4spd carpet and had no real problems....
