Stock 14 steel rims any intrinsic value or garbage?

Thanks, I just spent 20 minutes looking at the rims I have in the garage lol. No date codes other than a "5" and "0", sorry Justin.
I used a 14" rim and new tire for a spare in both of my B bodies. You can get a taller tire to get it close to the 15" tire size.

Hi Moparnation74 so how do you decipher the date and size of the rim? Is there a look up table?
no look up table for steelies....just in my head from years of searching and examples I made from picture. Very few references...

I just gave you the date code format...just decipher the numbers off my previous post. Some have date stampings in the lug area as well. Diameters are stamped on the inside of the rim also.

I've found this decoding of rims interesting. I've included a couple shots of one stock wheel from my '68 Coronet Deluxe built on May 31, 1968.
If I read the stampings correctly I come up with a 5" wide Motor Wheel produced May 11, 1968. Is this correct?

For those that do have rims with no tires on them, you also have more clearly stamped info on the hub inside. These stamps have a higher survival rate protected from the weather. Good informative thread.

I was trying to find a set of 10" cap steelies a few years ago.

I bought 8 rims from a classic JY and ended up with 7 slightly different styles!

The "hubs" are not dated pre 70.....70 and above the hubs have dates

left side of the valve stem K23 5 then on the right of the stem is 13 675. Guess I'm dense because I'm still not able to decipher them....done too much of this over the years :BangHead:

5/13/73 Kelsey Hayes.....

Thanks....but I can see where the 5 and the 13 come from but is the 23 for 1973? Is the 675 a part number?
The 2 is for shift from what I have seen...without seeing the rim face I assume it is a later time hence 3 for 73....you guys have to post pics....if there is just 3 dimples to hold the hubcaps then I would say 63.....without pics we are guessing...

A guy here is selling a pair of nos shocks with pn starts with 3 a superceded number that crossed with a 69 pn and is claiming the 9 is for 69 and it is NOT it is a later replacement but the date is 79....he gave pictures and a pat number....all you gave was the stamps.....

Are you positive; these are 1968 Hemi type along with other C body, have matched set of 5. While the same exact date code as stamped on completed rim is not there, you still have the plant and year code, size, along with other information.

Do you know the difference between the hub and the rim? You stated hub and not rim.....look at your original post....

Not all "rims" are dated but doesn't hurt to check

So these should be the good 14x6" wide rims for 1970 cars. I am looking for 14x5.5"

I would have to check size but have a full set on a 67 coronet 440. I have no desire for skinny steel wheels. What would they be worth?

Speaking of rims not sure if I should post here but since people are looking at this thread, I have a set of 14" early style 10" dog dish, are in great shape, not crusty, is there a market for those??

Never mind, I see they're only 14" X 5"

Made a mistake, but I was talking about wheels with tires off so that would be the exposed area and more readable.
