Whats the most desirable B Body MOD?

My convertible had the gas pedal and side pipes on it when I got it in 1980. My first enlistment in Ft Worth about the same time exposed me to some pale skinned white haired guy with a 68 Camaro from the Bronx. 4" long Angel Hair was the first thing you saw after you walked past the fully inflated air-shocks.

These might come in handy in a post apocalyptic way.

Upgrading your last girlfriend from a B Cup to a DD. Oh this was about cars and not broads, well the statement still stands!
:thumbsup::rofl:

So, I'm interested in what you all think is the best mod you have installed.
Guessing disc brakes, electronic ignition.. however, anxious to hear what you think.

THANKS!
I’d say a HEMI but I’m not there yet...LOL

My ‘79 came with everything the older cars lack in what would be considered an upgrade. Swapped in a chrome box for the orange that was there already.

Took out the 318 for a ‘00/5.9. That was nice.

Electronic ignition, Disk Brakes, Borgeson steering box, 15" wheels... the list goes on and on

#1 - Changing from 14" rims with bias ply tires to 15"+ rims with radial tires.
#2 - Larger torsion bars. I used the old Mopar 0.990", but 1" is good too.
#3 - Front Disc brakes if it has front drums.
#4 - Modern stereo system and speakers
#5 - A good fitting / quality dual exhaust system
#6 - If 2-bbl carb, converting to 4-bbl and intake
#7 - Changing from point ignition to electronic
#8 - A higher output alternator with wiring mods to handle the extra current.

After the above, depends on what your doing with the car.
Automatic trans car: Trans cooler, TF-2 Shift kit, higher stall converter
A good cooling system if the car run hot
Fuel system with bypass return to prevent vapor lock

All the above assumes Engine, and other systems are in good condition to start with.
If it has 8-3/4" or Dana 60 rear axle, make sure to check, lube and adjust the axle bearings. It's a bummer when your rear tires pass you going down the highway (ask how I know.)
More common is to upgrade items that need replaced anyway.
If you need new fuel and/or brake lines, you can upgrade to stainless steel and run 3/8" fuel line with return. 1/4 return was standard on some cars, but 5/16" or even 3/8" return would be good if planing to run EFI, or high volume / electric fuel pump.
If your thinking of running an electric fuel pump, and your fuel tank needs replacing too, consider the fuel tanks with the built-in fuel pumps, the in-tank pumps run quieter and cooler in the fuel tank.
If the trans needs rebuild, good time to do shift kit, and other changes. Don't forget U-Joints, and a driveshaft safety loop is a good idea too.
There are too many engine mods to list, but check the timing chain for slack. If you find a car this old that has the stock timing chain set, it likely is worn out by now?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here....for convenience sake, power keyless locks.
nobody can see them and to me it's just one of those modern things I just couldn't live without.

Using keys on BOTH doors...to lock AND unlock is just lame.....

Other than that, I'd have to say my 100% front and back suspension rebuild.

Jeff

I'd have to say brakes susp steering!

I agree. Yes, the engine mods are cool and make the car go fast. I get it and I like that stuff too.

But having a well sorted car that drives straight and true, takes corners well and stops decently truly makes these cars enjoyable to drive. Dennis H also mentioned car tool connectors. I have those on my car as well and they are a great addition to making the car handle well.

My order was:
brakes
shocks
15x8 and 10" magnum wheels with 295's out back
Firmfeel steering box
Suspension rebuild with poly bushings
More sporty steering wheel
Will do stroked big block and tremec 5/6 spd next ;-)

Best mod on the car is probably the 700hp 580" wedge under the hood, but I didn't install that, my pops did as he was the previous owner.

Since I've owned the car, I've put in a new, in-tank pump and fuel tank, bolted the pistol grip shifter solid, installed PST strut rods, a tic toc tac, and black with red striped Basset race wheels.

Of those, my favorite is absolutely the black wheels.
