Doing a front disc conversion - real quick question first

The GTX has 15" Magnums, as can be seen in my pics on here, so that wasn't a worry.
I'm simply referring to the various kits' manufacturers' descriptions oftentimes reading "works with factory 10" drum spindles", yet not mentioning factory 11" drum spindles like many of these cars have (including mine).
I thought maybe the 10" drum spindles might be a different diameter?
Apparently not. Thanks to everyone who answered that! :)

i used the scarebird conversion plates. lets you use factory parts from other cars. super easy and cheep to put together. manual brakes will still almost lift you out of the seat when slamed.
Scarebird is what I used, and very pleased with it. Been a few years and I think they have updated some of their kits-adapters. They will supply all parts, or give you a list to source your own parts. that is nice if you can get a parts discount. I suggest you check out their website..................................MO

My email to Scarebird:
Hi-
I’m interested in your disc conversion products for the front end of my 1968 GTX.
I have the 11” factory drums and I see your listing for a “light duty” setup, but you mention a heavy duty version for those of us with 440’s and hemi’s – yet I don’t see a listing for any such thing.
Any help?
Thanks,
Ed

The answer from Scarebird:
"We no longer offer that due to small demand.

So basically, all they offer for b-bodies now is the "small" or economy set up now that works with 14" wheels.
I missed the boat there.

Yep, I saw that, thanks. Just a little leery of the freight all the way across the country from CA.

I also installed the Scarebird kit on my Charger last year. I tried to find some info on it, but it seems it may have gone out of production. It used to be "Product Code: BNE". Let us know what you hear from them.
Unfortunately, that isn't available anymore. They say there wasn't enough demand.
That's surprising to me, actually. Reckon that leaves the "small" kit.

I don't think freight would be more than $75-100. Still a savings. Ask him to give you a price shipped to your zip.

There ya go Moparedtn. James is a member here and many members bought things from P-S-T. I knew it would only be a matter of time he would chime in. Just saying.

Ok, again I'll be keeping the stock spindles in place for the 11" drums I have now.
I have 15" Magnums. They stay also. I'm also sticking with non-power on the master.
Do I see correctly that the only choices (short of the Wilwoods) is either the kit for 15" wheels that requires spindle replacement or the kit for 14" wheels that doesn't (but has smaller rotors)?

Can I ask why you want to keep the stock drum spindles? The manual kit that we sell for $639 (member discount $575) with free shipping includes new spindles and the kit works with 15" wheels. We also offer Wilwood as well.

Thanks
James

No spindle change, no alignment needed?

Ed, I'm subscribed, if my car doesn't sell I may be doing what you are thinking about.

MoparedTn, another Mopar brake vendor is "The Ram man". He has MANY videos to look at. Again, why do you insist on keeping drum spindles?

I've just recently replaced both lower and one upper ball joint as part of getting the car back on the road, which of course included a trip to the alignment rack.
It doesn't make sense to me to replace parts that aren't bad now (spindles) and go through that process yet again.
Could you affirm (or correct me) on what I asked before?

Oh, I know all about Wayne and company. He's done a lot of good for our hobby over there (following Professor Ehrenbergs' recipe - smart!) and there are definite merits to using all original Mopar parts, of course.
His stuff is pricy as heck, though.
I've answered the drum spindle question a couple times already.
