I recently purchased a 65 satellite convertible, I know someone with a complete 383 long tube cross ram RB engine. I am thinking about buying the motor for my satellite. Does anyone know if the cross ram will fit and what the complete motor is worth. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

yea i think the gentleman isis right it will hit the innerfenders but cool find i love the long cross rams

Thanks I figured that, any idea what that motor and trans would be worth? Their a match set out of a 1960 police car with low miles but have been out and in a garage since late 70’s.

i have no idea but get it as cheap as you can bribe him with beer lol acuallty true story i bought a 69 440 for a case of beer that's all he wanted lol

Lol I wish... if I could work that Santa wouldn’t have to bring me a thing

Notch the inner fender. Google it's been done before.

RB 383, low mileage to boot. Thinking that would be a fairly rare motor! 1959 only.
Interesting.
Assuming it needs to be refreshed because it’s been sitting so long what is a decent price, I know he doesn’t want to give it away but I just have no idea what it’s worth. I see the long tubes induction for $3000 and shorts for less

Think that would be hard to say. Maybe some of the other guys know different. What does the seller think it's worth?

Had a set of long rams, for a little while. Until my brother did me the big favor, and sold 'em for scrap. Just the manifolds themselves, paid a whopping $25 for them, back in 1970.

Yeah, I sure would! Assuming it turns. Wonder why it sat? Little bit I've heard on them, the intake, motor has to be cammed right, to run the way it was designed. Normally went in C body cars.

Sry to hear that you lost yours to scrap.
The story on the engine is sort of a funny one. I was looking for a BB for a car, a friend steered me towards an engine for 8. I talk with the gentlemen for a while he didn’t want to go below 5 then final he said 3 just to get it out of the garage. I said great $300 it is.. come to find out he was talking thousand and I was talking hundreds. That was 2 Year’s ago and he still has the engine. It was pulled from a 1960 police station wagon, it was hit and they junked the car but pulled the engine and hasn’t moved since.

Yeah, brother did all kinds of favors. Before that, he scraped my 354 hemi.

Not that I get around that much, but have fooled with Mopar 383s, since the mid 60s. Have only seen RB 383s in pictures!

if the crank is original, extended flange, you may have some issues trying to bolt it up to a '62 or later transmission.

Pictures here might help a little. It looks like the passenger side inner fender is the problem. http://car-from-uk.com/sale.php?id=90647

For what you can sell the long ram manifolds for alone, you can buy a re-pop short ram (A&A Transmission), linkage, air cleaners, and brand new 600 cfm Edelbrocks--and I know for a fact they'll fit in the engine compartment (also, a lot easier to adjust your valves when needed).
