I've been putting off buying headers for my big block projects, but I can't resist this price with free shipping.

They've been on my watch list at $357, which was 20% off.

Now they're being loaded into the sleigh.

I've heard/read nothing but good about these even though info is kind of hard to come by.

The clincher was the shop that installed them on member jprathers car (72 SSP 400 slapstick) said they didn't have to ding anything!
 
No mods on these for slap stick!

I know just what he says “you get what you pay for” that’s usually a rule of thumb Seems like it’s hit or miss, can’t speak to it since I’ve never used them. Hopefully everything works out for you
 
So with that logic, they would have been more likely to fit at $450?

I've come to realize that value and cost are not necessarily the same thing, and that works both ways.
 
i think the quality of the ceramic coating is what to really consider here. ive seen brands such as hooker rust to all ****. im interested to see how these fit and look after a year.
 
All I’m saying is there is a reason they are as cheap as they are, hopefully you’re one of the lucky ones and get a good set, But I wouldn’t set expectations too high. There’s a reason TTI’s are 700+ you’re getting a quality item every time. If they were as good as TTI how would TTI stay in business at double the cost of someone else making the same quality header. The ones I saw in person at Galaxy Auto looked great.

Smooth, even finish.
 
Got them last night.

Initial inspection shows them to be fairly good quality of machining and assembly.

Welds are reasonably smooth, flanges are thick and straight. Collector flanges took to be very nice quality. Finish seems fairly thick and even, although there is one run right on the top of the #2 pipe. Looks like it could be sanded but I doubt I'll bother. It's not terribly noticeable.

It will likely be a while before these go on.
 
Well, I tried to put them on the 400 I have on a wood fabricated cradle.

They have a pre-flattened area on the tube that goes closest to a power steering gear. That's nice.

They also seem to work with a standard starter, IE NOT requiring a mini starter.
That's nice, as I have a large collection of OEM starters and I enjoy that distinctive sound. That was something I found in most of the other popular brands- mini starter required.

Unfortunately I was not able to snug them up because the brace for my engine cradle was in the way. That means I'm either going to have to redesign and rebuild the cradle, or, at the minimum, make room for my hoist and lift the engine up to test fit.

I did notice that the area where the collector is closest to the shift linkage looks like it's going to be tight. I'll need to snug them up to verify the clearance for the rest of the linkage.
