For Sale 68 Coronet @ Storage Yard !

AMD doesn't make the 68 lid.
They have major rust issues. There is one on here now for a 1000.00

If a 68 Coronet decklid was truly worth a grand, it would be gone in an instant. The fact that it hasn't sold tells you that it's overpriced.

I had a similar car that needed a total restoration. It was a 1968 318 440 hardtop needing quarters , fender and floor pan patches, interior, drive train, etc.... All original but taken apart. I managed to sell it for $7,500. By my guestimate it needed about $25,000 in materials to restore it plus any labor. By the time I would have restored it I would have had around $30,000 into it not counting the 1000 plus hours of my labor so it just didn't make sense to invest in it. If it was an original BB car I would have. Whoever does that car will probably be in the same situation. Just my opinion.

It's been my experience that once you figure out what you think you will spend on a project, if you add another 35% to it, you're closer to what it will really cost you.

I have seen people posting parts in serial order here with dreamer pricing....what is even more interesting they never sell anything:realcrazy:

As far as the value of the coronet it will just be what someone will pay but it seems price is too far for me to even take a second look...

Oh Yah, the one I sold mentioned above also came with a complete "Brand New in the Box" Legendary Interior's interior ($2,500). If you subtract that the car really sold for $5,000.

I've sold several 68 deck lids over the years to the rust belt for 450-1200.00. Seen an NOS one sell for 3K.
On this side of the country, no. If this car was on the east side it would be gone already.
The one listed on here may be a bit over priced but it will go for around 700-800 I bet.

Is this car worth "restoring"? No, but get it driving, throw on a Maaco paint job and could have a decent driver. Fix things on the cheap, used parts etc.
To put 30K into it is not worth it but doesn't need to be a parts car either.

I like it. It "appears" fairly solid. Our starting points generally involve floor pans, quarters and wheelhouses. (and we all know what else is buried behind those pieces!) Anyway by the time that stuff is shipped here we're at $3000+/-. Clone, BB car, etc, doesn't really matter, if it was up in my neighborhood it would sell for a lot more than it will down there.

that B looks very familiar. I'm sure I;ve seen it before somewhere.

If anyone is seriously interested in the car please pm, I'm willing to help and it could also be stored at my lot for those who mite need shipping PM for Details.

I remember some sorta difference between a 68 lid & 69, making the 68 worth more. There's a damaged 68 lid on eBay right now for 1400.00.
AMD advertised their repop as fitting 68-70, which doesn't make sense.

I think the AMD lids are for chargers

Nice to see someone else here who has a realistic point of view. For the record, I was being sarcastic with the figure I mentioned in my previous post & I think Blade's figure is closer to reality. When it comes to B-bodies, 68-70 Chargers are the top of the food chain, followed by Plymouth B-bodies and slightly below that are Coronet B-bodies. If one were to make a clone R/T or Super Bee out of the car in this thread, the value of such a done car is in the high 20's to low 30's (depending on quality). Why? Because you can buy a nice "real" Bee for the mid 30s & a real nice one for just under 40. All you people who think that they can turn that heap into top notch clone on a (very conservative) budget of less than 30 grand....in addition to buying it for 8 grand are dreaming.

What's your definition of "top notch"? My GTX was in way worse shape than that and I am into mine for around $24k including the $5k I paid for it. If someone does their own work, they can do it for a reasonable cost. Less if they re-use much of the original hardware and parts. I do not consider resto shops reasonable.
