IF you had a chance, would you take a 1968 OR 1969 L-88 ?

I used to race a friend's Corvette. Great car, but cramped..I personally prefer mid size, whether mopar b body, torino, Chevelle, GS, 442, etc. So, clearly I'll take the mopar.

humph! good question. i have one of each now, 69 hemi coronet and a 70 chevelle 572 dart motor. if i had to give one up it would be the chevelle down the road first. they are both fun to drive but at the end of the day i will feel a lot better driving around in a hemi car. around here there might be a dozen hemi cars but 419 vettes and counting, approx. lol my chevelle will blow the doors off the hemi and it should, 572/823hp on pump gas, but it would be the first down the road. it feels good to drive around in a hemi if that makes sense. i have had a couple of vettes and i wouldn't have another one if it were free and i wouldn't care what motor was in it.
-if i had to make that decision myself i would just flip a coin and if it didn't come up hemi, i would just flip it again. you asked LMAO

Those vetted are fast as hell and handle for cars of the era . But they get extremely hot inside are cramped a pain in the *** to get in and out of .
Always have loved the way they look .
If I couldn't have both I would take the Hemi car who wouldn't .
Are we asking favorite of all time a super bee A12 that's my next car ..

Well,
Reason being:

I saw a Mecum Auction and the 69 L-88 Corvette was a "No-Sale" at $700,000

-Then I started to research the "L-88" and found out it is a RARE Beast.

The only way I would take the L-88 would be to sell it and buy TWO Hemi Bs.

I've owned a couple Vette's
no L-88's too pricey, even when I was buying them...

The L-88 is probably 3 time the cost-value of most Hemi cars
unless it's a 69 Daytona Hemi or a 71 Cuda' Hemi car
a 68 RR or GTX Hemi would be one of my favorite,
but it's not anywhere near the value of that Vette
there's a few select Hemi Cars that have the close to
or maybe ? possibly ? near the same value
the LO23 Dart or BO29 Barracuda, factory org S/S cars
or maybe Landy's WO cars from 67 comes to mind
"it is what it is"

If I could get the L-88 1968-69 at a song deal
(1967 are extremely rare like only 20 made, they're worth Millions more
that's getting a good deal is extremely doubtful, even for a 68-69 unless someone
was living in a cave for decades, or Fallen, everyone knows it's a holly grail car,
they're all worth a shitload of $$$, "almost "no matter what condition)

then I'd just resale it "for a shitload more $$",
only If that was the case, then I'd be all over it,
there's a great market right now for that 68-69 L-88 Vette...

Then I'd buy bunch of 68 Mopars, listed above...

The Vett's are a tight fit for a bigger guy, I ain't a little dude
I've had a couple gen 3 Vetts 68-71's
the best I had was a 71 LS-6 454 4 speed Silver & Black
BUT; the L-88's do handle very well, I drove my buddy Jim's 68
that extra 70-100# off the nose, makes it like a SB LT-1 handling
but with 2 times the hp/tq, tire frying at 60 mph, with Org. Bias Plys...
IMO L-88 Way underrated power wise, by almost 100+hp/tq
those alum. rect. port canted big valve heads
{special camshaft} were a really big difference
just like many of the Hemi's were too...

I still love my Mopars, but there's a few brand x
cars I would still love to own, even if only for a short time...

That's to easy of a ? Let's try the vette or a stripper car ! I'd still go stripper. Everyone and there mother has a vette and most look the same !

How many times have you heard "Corvettes are for GIRLS" I swear 9 out of 10 are driven by girls. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I definitely agree with what guys have said above, about them being cramped... but from strictly an investment standpoint the vette is kind of a no-brainer... however I am positive that I would get a lifetime of enjoyment out of owning a real Hemi, as opposed to a show queen corvette

The 68-70 B-body is the most gorgeous car ever made. Hemi!

That Vette is amongst the absolute ugliest. Makes my want to vomit.

So unless your going to quickly sell that ugly *** bowtie and buy another hemi.......

Great points Budnicks....
Truly a RARE car, the L-88
I'm sure the L-88s transplanted into Biscayne's and Nova's (Plain Jane's) gave a few Hemis and 440s a run for the money

I'll take a nice little ol 1970 coronet R/T or a 70 Bee...

Hey, wait...I have one..

Tee-hee-hee

I certainly do not need another car,
But seeing a gorgeous Marlboro Maroon 1969 Corvette (not convertible) and it being a L-88 with a Auction Bid of $700,000 and the car was a No-Sale, tells me, umm, something special her for sure.

And of course, as our Esteemed Colleague Budnicks eluded to:
"If I could get the L-88 1968-69 at a song deal-----then I'd just resale it "for a shitload more $$",
only If that was the case, then I'd be all over it,"

My problem is, I never get or see a Barn find, now that I have a "little" money extra to spend...
-But: "I SAW GREAT DEALS" when I was active duty Air Force and didn't have a dime to my name....Just saying...

Isn't that how it always is?

:drama:

:wtf: ?????
