Need a lower steering column bearing for my 65 coronet

kramer automotive specialities should have your bearing and I would replace the rubber bearing seal to while your at it.

they don't have a bearing. but, I do have some "thingys" I had machined as a substitute and use in my '65 column.

if this is what you need try contacting David Loar, The bushings are made from Delrin, which is many times more durable than the OEM plastic. They are machined so you get a full 2 inch penetration into the column for a tighter 'feeling' wheel, and the flange is machined to match the flare at the bottom of the column which gives it a very clean, finished, look. mine are shorter but the same idea. the original columns had a plastic disc, kinda cheesy.
 
i don't use the dust shield simply because i don't have one. the bushing i use is held in place by a couple of factory screws on the outside of the column. i came up with this idea in 2003 when i was rebuilding my 65 coronet and couldn't get a dust shield.

dust boot but still wanted better support for the steering shaft.
 
My take on the '62-'65 lower seal/bushing, it was designed to allow flex with the movement of the frame and steering box.

When installing the steering column, you have to center the firewall plate after the coupler is fastened to the steering box. This centers the bushing in the rubber seal. The rubber acts like a bellows, allowing the shaft to move when frame flexing occurs.

Large holes in the plate for adjustment to center the column.

Thanks!! Very helpful. My bushing and seal are totally gone so I have nothing for reference...forgive my ignorance, do you use the dust seal with Dave’s style bushing? Thanks
