So I’m attacking 1/4 replacement. First fit up. Do you guys still lead things? I’ve been told by more then one body guy to stitch weld grind and stitch again to build thickness and strength. Grind clean flat and the filler it.
Before & fit up pics.

I’m interested in opinions.

IMO nothing is better then lead
it does have a good learning curve to it
but I'm old school
many will use metal fill and call it a day..

when you are on the clock I agree.
there is no clock in my garage..

I actually prefer marine-tex to the allmetal people crow about......I've had adhesion issues with almetal, both under and on top

any boat/marine supply should have it.......... or try a google search, you may be able to get it online....... I have 30 year old repairs still holding up............. read the can, mix it carefully, too little catalyst is better than too much

Thanks I’m in Pittsburgh with lots of boaters so I’m sure I can find it around here.

Again thanks.

replacing a quarter on a rotisserie is not a good idea. The car should be supported at the 4 torque box areas and have the doors on, to align to

Ok. I was thinking that it probably wasn’t the best situation. I’m hanging the door for sure. I’m thinking I’ll lower it on 4 jack stands and support it closer to the center of the car.

Thanks.

it being a post car, and the door jamb not being disturbed keeps it much stiffer than a hardtop

I also left the trunk gutter in place but, I’m still going to drop it on something more level and evenly supported. I’m still early in the replacement phase(fit up & clean up).

Thanks.
