What Brand of Fuel pumps are you guys running at the Track, My 500" Engine should Dyno at
700-750HP and I'm looking at the "Magna Fuel" Fuel Pumps, anyone here used these guys before? and or what are you guys using? and how much horse power are you making?

I’ll Be about the same power level as you, fitech fuel injection along with aeromotive a-1000 pump.

Hey Bo Whats up, 72 degrees Today in comyfornia!!! LMAO, anyway just wondering you think Fitec is up to the task with that power level?? I've heard good things about aeromotive pumps, haven't heard much about Magna pumps though??
 
What’s up buddy About 5 degrees here in the great Midwest lol, anyway yes the fitech is rated for 1200hp, a-1000 fuel pump will feed up to 1300-1400 hp iirc. Manga fuel is a damn good brand pump also. Fitech recommends using the a1000 so I went with that
 
I went all out with the Aeromotive A3000 Fuel Pump. It will be enough to support on motor & with the additional NOS Kits.

I've been using an Aeromotive fuel pump of some sorts
for Carbureted stuff since about 1997-ish, great products...

I use to use ERC CNC stuff before that

I've have a model Aeromotive #11203 Street-rod Fuel Pump
on my current RR since 2005-ish
it's only 150 gph/900 lbs/hr 14psi regulated down to 7.5 psi
using a bypass regulator, it's a smaller pump but fit my
current N/A 6bbl Carbureted needs,
mine makes in the neighborhood of 600hp/600ftlbs,
it's more than I need even at that, only has A/N -6 lines & -4 bypass...
still rock steady at 7.5 psi after at full throttle,
no starvation at all, no variation in psi either
No Idea on Et it's a street beast...

N/A 700+ I used their 175gpm pumps for the engine
& another 175gpm for the N20 300 shot Top Gun sysyetms
both stand alone systems,
both with bypass regulators,
all on 30-40amp relays, with separate arming switches
went best of 8.58 @ 156 mph in a 3520# 315 drag radial combo
I know guys who ran a lot more GPM, I didn't seem to need it...

On my Top Sportsman 1500hp 526-540ci Dominator Carb combos
& Outlaw Pro-stock 499ci combos split Dominators
{w-N20 ran an extra 350 gpm pump}
we ran 2) 350 gpm 1325 lb/hr 30 psi Aeromotive pumps
{can't remember model #'s -10 A/N}

or prior to 1997 the ERC experimental stuff
1) 500gpm 1500 lbs/hr for engine alone


I always use a relay inline to keeps voltage constant
& lessen the spikes or amperage draw,
issues some have using electric fuel pumps

I always use a bypass style regulator too,
pump doesn't deadhead & it runs cooler, seems to last longer


I know a couple guys that used the Magna Fuel stuff & had a few problems
pumps taking a ****

I used dual Holley Blue pumps for years, also with bypass regulators
ran low 7's 1/4 on them

at one time used Barry Grant stuff
{no longer in business} it was hit & miss, way over rated
I had a few pump problems

I went back to the ERC Racing Fuel Stuff,
I don't think they sell to the general public IIRC,
not sure they are even still there {uses to be in San Leandro/San Lorenzo {?} Ca.}
they did R&D for guys like that ran similar stuff
P/S Warren/Kurt Johnson, T/S P/M Mike Moore,
T/S P/M Jeff Berosovitch {spell ?}, T/S P/M Bill Kullman,
T/S P/M Charles Carpenter, T/S P/M Doc Holliday
{guys who ran Barry Grants stuff org.}
& a few other well known sportsman racers & pros

If you plan on doing any hardcore Drag Racing with the Car, Magna Fuel is really great paying Contingency Money. You just cant beat their Pumps and regulators. Great people to deal with.
 
My 10.170 @ 131+mph 3800 pound Coronet 505" uses a very common Holley Black Pump (non-return style pressure regular) At 7.5 pounds of fuel pressure. 1050 Dominator and 3/8" metal fuel line from pump to engine compartment, then 6an steel braided to regulator and up to Fuel Bowls, really nothing special.... Must work ok...going 10.170 to 10.190 and very consistant on those ET's. I am happy with it.
The motor made 602hp on the engine dyno when first built but I have made a LOT of upgrades since then. I figure it has to very close to 750HP now to push my car to the 10.170, 131+mph time slips.
I would love to have a big time pump, filter and 8 to 10an lines but it is not in the budget (yet..lol).

My eng only makes around 600 hp to push my 3725 lb car to 10.70's and I run the Holley Black pump also set at 6 psi since mine is a street car. I also run 3/8 line. I have run Holley pumps since the 70's and always had good luck with them. Ron
 
How noisy are the black pumps on a street car Ron? That's always kept me from running one.

You’ll probaly want to run an additional pump for the NOS.
 
I'm sure I'll be told this won't work, but I've used the same set-up on our 600 HP, N/SS car (10.80 @124 in a steel, '63 Plymouth), and in my street/strip Road Runner (11.07 @123). I use a 3/8" aluminum line from the tank. At the stock tank there is a Carter electric pump. That pumps to a Carter mechanical pump in the stock location. I have a hair over 6 psi from idle to 6500 RPM. I was told by a savvy old stock eliminator racer that this set up will work down to near 10.0 territory. Haven't been nearly that fast! The system in my street car has been in for 15 years with no problems. I don't use it all the time. When driving around town, it is usually not needed, and the mechanical pump pulls through the electric pump. If I'm pulling a hill or driving hard, I turn it on. I could run it all the time without incident, but feel I'm saving it the more it's turned off. I have a switch under the dash for the electric pump. Good luck.
