Is there a shorter performance intake out there that would help me with hood clearance on a 67 GTX?

Starting re-build process and don't want to come across this issue too late in the game.

Would like to use RPM Edelbrock but am open to other suggestions. With Holley 750ish carb and will use drop down air cleaner.

Thanks.

you could always use the performer (not RPM) which is lower due to the lacking air gap. not as good an intake but should get the clearance.

Holley Street Dominator is the best IMO If you can find one,I looked for about 6 months till I found a good one.

I was just looking for a good used on, picked it up for $125 Never really thought about it, LOL. I mostly do small blocks 340's and they haven't made them for a long time. MP sells them for SB but they are outrageous.

My '66 Satellite had a Torker which fit under the stock hood with a drop base K&N filter set up. IMHO you can make the single plane manifold work just fine on the street with a proper cam/carb combo and correct tire/gear combo.

I seem to recall that the factory intake (heavy assed pig that it is) is still considered one of the better choices for a fairly stock street engine, like the "regular" Edelbrock, right?
Wasn't the original Edelbrock pretty much a copy of the stock intake, only in aluminum?

I'm running the CH4B because of clearance issues. It turned out to be a pretty darn good intake and has plenty of clearance.

The problem with running a drop base air filter on a taller manifold is that the terrible air flow through the filter will negate an potential advantages of the manifold.

Well, at least curt tail...

Assuming the engine is a RB, the Holley street dominator intake / dropped base air cleaner will give you some hood clearance. Good intake for power.

Years ago I ran a DP4B which was slightly taller with larger volume ports all around. Seems to me CH4B also a bit taller and bigger ports.

Depends on the drop base design. On my 500" motor at the strip, no significant difference between drop base K&N 14 x 3" filter and no air cleaner.

the ch4b was the "aftermarket" intake back in the '60's. it's a little taller but has much more runner volume. noticeably different than a stock iron.

I gotta admit that there were a few surprises. Most of it was obvious IMO but always worth the test for proving the fact!
The flipped air cleaner Trick was my surprise. We all did this trick in high school. But I never imagined that it did as well as the dyno showed.
I always try to stay away from dropped base units. But sometimes, it’s ether that or start cutting the hood. Which is more than I want to do 99% of the time. Cutting a steel hood sucks. Fiberglass, not so much.

Which is why I didn't mention the ch4b. I'm thinking more along the lines of the Performer series (as opposed to the RPM).
Isn't that one pretty much a copy of the factory intake?

none of the edelbrocks copy the factory. the ch4b was the earlier performance intake, the performer is a smog era performance intake, the rpm a modern dual plane performance. the mopar alum is just a '70 stock intake cast in alum. the ch4b is far superior to the factory intakes for performance.
