What is involved in replacing the E-brake / parking brake cable that attaches to the inside pedal? This is on the 1969 Coronet.

No big deal at all, un-clip from pedal, feed cable thru the firewall and rubber seal.Remove clip that holds it at the frame. feed the new one in and clip in place. I just did it on my 63.

So does it feed from under the car into passenger compartment, or from passenger compartment to under the car?
Do I need to unbolt the E-brake pedal from the car body?
I'm sure it will be obvious once I start working on it, but I have never replaced this cable before and trying to prepare for what needs to be done.

I don't know how much they changed through the years but here's a '62. (1969 owners comment on whether they use a clip)

I removed the cable from the cross member, under the car first to give the cable slack.

At the mechanism itself, there's not a clip but a "squeeze" type retainer that you just apply pressure while you're pulling, to release it.

Then useing a small screwdriver, pry the cable end from its seat.

Then you can pull it out.

There's a good chance that you can do this while it's still bolted to the kick panel but if it's too hard to get at, there's only three bolts to remove and your release leaver.

Might be a good idea to just remove the pedal assembly, then I can clean it up and paint it. Does the assembly have a return spring too. I usually have to pull up on the pedal to get the brake light to turn off.

You gotta pull it off the car for sure. It's very simple.
