Hey guys. I will soon be doing the interior on my 71 Charger. It's a bucket seat, automatic console shift car.

Does anyone make carpet for that config specifically or will I have to take a bench seat automatic carpet and cut it to fit around the console brackets?

Thanks.

I used ACC carpets with the heavy mass backing for my 70 RR. I was very happy with the product. I bought it from Rock Auto, cheapest I found online. It was shipped direct from ACC.

I have done 3 cars and my Power Wagon using ACC carpet and all were very nice and fit great! They all had plenty of material to trim and weren't short in some areas like around the kick panels and rear sills like some I have installed. All were stick cars too so the areas around the 4 speed hump fit awesome as well.

Is there another option for factory like carpet than the vendor ACC?

Right now they are the only source.....When you buy from vendors they are the manufacturer....

I think I got mine from Legendary. '69 Road Runner with buckets and center console. I had to cut for the console brackets. I think cutting to fit is the norm (and not difficult). That way one front carpet can be used for buckets or bench, with or without console.

As of October 2017, Trim Parts sold their carpet line off to ACC Carpets. So at this point, all carpet to my knowledge comes from the one source, ACC. ECS buys their carpet directly from ACC and has it shipped to them on large jigs which are basically floor pans for the different body styles. They then place into their own custom boxes so that it can be shipped flat. Otherwise, whether you purchase from Legendary, Classic, Rock Auto or whomever, it is now an ACC product.
As for the original question as to the configuration issues, you will just need to order the carpet for the automatic transmission and do the necessary cutting just like the factory did. The four speed carpets are slightly different for the hump configuration.

I think they are all the same, I just eBayed mine for my charger. Trim to fit is necessary. But sure was nerve racking when cutting the center console, lol. Didn’t want to come up short on one side!

As a vendor for the ACC Carpet line, we will ask that the carpet be left long on the three sides: top and both sides. This way, it gives you the opportunity to move the carpet around slightly to best fit the car.
The next time that your at a show or a cruise in, look at how many cars do not have the carpet pulled up far enough on the firewall or they could not position it correctly due to the heel pad being incorrectly placed. It is more work to properly trim, but I have actually had carpet shipped from ACC and Trim Parts that did not have enough to basically fit under the sill plates. Now I just request it to be left extra long so the customer can trim as needed.

Today I ordered new carpet from Stock Interiors . com They have a very good web site with a lot of information. So much you have to read carefully . My impression was that they might be better than ACC. I got the MASS backing. Didn't know that ACC also offered that. They probably all come from the same place. Check them out and post your opinion............................MO
