72 Charger frame surprise.

The question is: Are other year and model front frame rails interchangeable with a 72 Charger hard top? The story is after buying the car last summer, decided to drop the K-member this week. Before dropping it found an odd crack in the frame near a K bolt. Was not the frame I was looking at. It was body putty painted with frame black paint. There was a goobered patch behind this. Surprize.

I had that happen once on a Duster frame where the K member bolted to the frame. The tapped area where the bolt goes, was essentially gone. So we cut a short frame section off another car, and welded it in place. Worked out great! You have to have some experience with frame repairs to do a good job.
