Well what I know

Hurst super shifter
push down for reverse
came with a batch of 4-speed parts I bought
looks relatively unused and was told it was for a failed project that never came to fruition.
only number I can find on it is 8779
2 out of the 3 linkages look correct for an oem shifter, but the middle one doesn't?

Looking for the correct shifter for my 68 'X

I went on EBay and looked for that number. Found several but they all say GM Pontiac and Ford.

Look closely at the longest of the three levers (Reverse Lever). If it is a Mopar transmission, there should be a 4 digit number on that lever.

I just went and looked at Brewer's performance because they have a good page that helps determine which transmission and/or shifter you may have. All the models they show on there (for Mopars) have a curved reverse gear lever. Yours is straight. BeepBeep may be right and yours may be for some other manufacturer.

Found this thread on our mother site . RustyRatRod said the Hurst 8779 shifter is for a Borg Warner T-10. Link below:

Did the 68s have the bolt on handles ? The one for my 69 barracuda & my friends 70 duster are the shim type

This isn't relevant to your standard shifter but it's a coincidence that I was freshening an old shifter just today that also came out of a 68 GTX.

This shifter was installed new into a 68 GTX in 1976, It's a Hurst Auto Stick II. I'm sure some of you guys will remember these shifters.
