Looking for pictures and snorkel measurements for the stock OE air cleaner housing assembly for 67 Coronet R/T w/440 engine

I have a dual snorkel top here, but I think it's a 69 and not correct for a 67......I did look on Nick's Garage webpages, but I can't get any measurements off of those pictures. Looking at his pictures, looks like there are indents at the front of the lid for AC clearance, also appears to be an indent at the rear also, but I would not know why. Pictures below are what is posted on his site

Can anyone help?

Thanks, Bryan

Info from http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner.htm The best reference for Mopar air cleaners that I know of. Not sure of any other reference out there other than owners. There looks to be some uncertainty of this application because Nick is asking for information also.

1967 440 4-Barrel. Used in the GTX, Coronet R/T and Charger. Not sure if it was used in other models or on the 383. Most likely this is for B-bodies only. Looks like '68-9 version except for different indent in front for A/C clearance. Cars with cleaner air package (CAP) had nipple on left snorkel to connect to breather cap.

NOTE: There are two different air cleaners in this style, one is taller than the other and uses a different base. See the photos below. They both use the same air filter element. Not sure yet what the exact application is but it appears that the B-body cars used the shorter one. If anyone has an explanation, please let me know.

I read all that info before I posted, like stated in my first post, what I need are pics and measurements from someone who has an original on their car.....I have a top lid here, but the one I have looks to be a 69 unit....I need to compare snorkel measurements

Short air cleaners are for 440 RB and tall are for 383 B. I don't think they used this type of air cleaner on 69 B Body cars. I only see the unsilenced type on 68 and later until 70 for dual snorkel again.

Also the indent on top is larger diameter on 440 air cleaners. 383 ones are smaller and the 440 pie tin will not fit.

Also, the base is for the smaller to fit Carters too, hole for carb. 68 they switched to the Carter AVS.

I'll see if I can get some pictures of mine with measurements.

Appreciate the pics and measurements.....looks like the one I have here does not have the indentation at the rear of the lid like yours does. What was that indentation for, two speed wipers?? The snorkel length is the same as the one here. I do know about the bottom carb opening difference, the base I have here is for the AFB carb, the owner needs the AVS larger base for his.

The 69 version of this air cleaner is very rare, I had one a couple years ago, I sold the top lid for $325

Thanks for measuring,

Bryan

69L48Z27, does your air cleaner lid have the nipple for the C.A.P. hose that runs to the fill cap on the valve cover? I don't see it, unless it's hidden under a snorkel

Bryan

No. Our car is not CAP.

I assume indent in the rear was for wipers. This car has 'variable speed' wipers.

Do you have pictures of what you have?

I'll post some pictures tomorrow, they are on my laptop

Here are pics of the upper lid that I have here. The snorkels are the same length as yours, 6-1/2" long. Has a large flat indentation in front, between the 2 snorkels. Has very small indentation in the rear, much smaller than what is shown on yours. Mine also has the CAP hose nipple on the outside of the lid.

I had a lid just like this a few years ago....we had determined that it was indeed a 68-69 B-body 383-440 top lid.....I had it up for sale in a number of forums and on Craigslist. Finally I had a guy drive 70 miles to buy the one I had listed on CL.....he was thrilled to finally find one....he said that it was very hard to find....and he looked it over carefully, he knew what it really was

So now I think I have another one here, but I need an OE 67 R/T lid.....if indeed I have another 68-9 lid, the owner wants to made a "trade/cash" deal for what he needs and use this lid as trading stock

I see now... I would say that the lid is 440 RB based on the diameter of the wing nut indent. The CAP tube in 67 was on the DS snorkel.

Maybe that's for a 69 C body? Looks like they moved the nipple from the snorkel to the side in 69.

C bodies had torsion bar hood springs, so that would explain the "flat" area on the back. Just not sure if C and B bodies used the same air cleaner.

Your lid, or cover, appears to be for a 383. A few years back I purchased what looked like a 440 air cleaner. It wasn't until I compared it to my 440 unit that I saw the differences. My 1st clue was the 440 pie plate did'nt mate up properly
