The courtesy light that illuminates the ignition is burnt out and before I pull the ignition switch (which is a huge pain in the butt) how does this bulb come out? Can it be done without removing the light housing and ignition switch?

Not my pic, but how does that bulb come out?

Take the blue cover of and it is a simple banjo type of bulb, push down and twist it.

Isn't there a sheet metal housing that simply pulls straight off if you grip it?

I think the pic he posted is just a reference and wants to know what does need to dissasemble to reach that piece and replace the bulb... or if is posible to make it without dissasemble anything

See, this should be simple right? :)

The blue cover does not seem to be retaining anything. There is a hole in the metal bulb housing that shines the light down for the key but the housing doesnt look to have any seams. It should be possible to swap the bulb without removing the ignition switch.

I need to figure out how it comes apart because I cannot see up there once I get my hand in behind the dash.

You won't have to worry about the blue lense since I'm pretty sure is a rubber piece that simply attaches to the bulb/socket like a condom, but I got your deal... sorry I can't really help since never have deal't with those.

pull straight out

pull straight out

This is correct, thank you and to everyone who replied! But it would not budge and I didn't want to pull the wire out of the socket so I removed the whole thing. My hands are all scratched up but it is working again, should be easier the next go-round! Boy is it sketchy rooting around behind a 50 year old dash. Bulb is a 1445

Oh, ok I see how it is now... the assembly bracket would remain installed while the socket is pulled out from backside.

I'm working on mine right now. Much easier with the dash out
