Big block pulley sets with A/C and P/S Pictures anyone?

I used the CVF Racing all inclusive serpentine kit. Includes all the components you need.

That looks slick...What is the price on that???

Just a FYI, the OEM set up (vicious drive package) uses a smaller pulley on water pump. I believe to help with slow speed cooling. Just something to think about.
Smaller than the 5 1/4" ?
I have a buddy with a 1970 383 with A/C. I'm going to his place on Friday to see what his engine looks like to compare.

I will try to measure mine next time I'm in the garage.

Hey kern a billet specialties true trac system would look great under the hood of your charger! They’re about $2500 but comes with alternator ac compressor water pump and power steering pump

Damn that's a lot for that set up! I probably have 300$ or less in my OEM set up counting belts. I'd rather spend it on go fast goodies.

Buddy of mine has the Tru Trac on his 68 Chevelle with a supercharged LSX, looks nice but like you I rather spend the money on go fast parts and just bought 440 source billet pulleys to make it look decent lol

Thanks for the suggestions but I am going to stick with a stock based setup. The only snag so far is that the water pump pulley that I have is a 2 groove. The rear groove is the one that will be used, the forward one is along for the ride. I can use this and keep looking for a single groove pulley and swap it on later.

This is one of the 4 groove setups. Note the idler pulley to the right of the alternator. I just wonder why they had a 3 and 4 groove arrangement. Why not build it as simple and light as possible? Fewer parts...less weight, cheaper to build.

I think the reason for the 4 belt system is the smaller water pump pulley might of needed more contact to keep from slipping. Smaller pulley, less contact, more resistance.

The amount of belt contact does matter but I wonder if they "over-engineered" some things to build in a safety margin. The original RV-3 A/C compressor used 2 belts. Why? Did it have so much drag that it needed both to avoid slippage? Bouchillon Performance sells a low mount kit for the A/C pump using a single belt but clearly states that proper assembly is essential to avoid belt squeal.
In the 3 groove setup that I have mocked up, the water pump has 90 degrees of belt contact, about the same as it has now in my non A/C setup.

I found some images online. This is the same setup that I was able to set up, a 3 belt arrangement. It is funny that they also used a 2 groove water pump pulley even though the forward groove is not used.

Thank you. Dennis!
I have my new radiator with the correct inlet and outlets, I found a MINT factory shroud in my parts stash too. I need to change the water pump housing to correspond with the radiator. I have an iron one but may buy an aluminum one since the A/C kit is going to add weight.

Remember, if you go from a non-AC set up to a factory based AC set up, you will need to find the 6 vane water pump to put in the housing. The diameter of the vanes is smaller as well. The AC water pump is spun faster by the diameter of the different pulleys. IF you don't change the water pump, cavitation of the coolant will occur which will lead to overheating. I found this out long ago on my car, plus it's been discussed and proven over on DC.com

Kern, did you ever sort out the A/C install? I am starting down this road now and have been gathering parts. I need to find an idler pulley, bracket and spacer and source the correct belts. I’ve sourced everything else from Bouchillon.
