This project followed me home last summer. Drove straight, no big problems. Caught rubber in second gear. (auto trans with 400 smog motor)
Jezebel started to miss after a left turn. Number 7 plug wire was pulled off the spark plug because the steeering shaft walked it out. Got the plug wires sorted out. Needed to change air jets due to killing all the mosquitos in the shop. Things like that.

2 weeks ago. Was about to drop the K-member and change out the bushings. Noticed an odd line at the front frame. The body putty that was painted frame black was cracking off the left frame rail. Might not be stock. So now have 3 piles of pieces that all need rebuilt. 1- frame needs sectioned and welded. 2- front end wants a rebuild. 3- After the other items, had no faith in the engine
so tore it down. Engine will receive bearings and gaskets.

Don't you love surprises? I guess this is the price we pay for spending WAY too much money on cars 50 years old. Gotta love it....and we do!

I still think that's a beautiful car. My advice is:

1. If you have tons of cash - stroke the 400 & make sure you have an 8-3/4" (if you don't already)
2. If you're broke - weld a plate over that frame section and/or a "safety cap" if they sell that piece & just re-ring the 400 (assuming no lip on cylinders)

Did not know about the language, call it drama. It was sure drama to me. Mid in the money area. Very slow on the learning curve. Thought maybe the black paint was a theme. It had skull door locks, bigger stereo with ruined door skins, and the paint was done by somebody late at night with one bulb in the garage for light. The painter did not wipe the car down first. Think there is a whole moth trapped in the paint somewhere. The hope is to get it put back together and make Power Tour in June, bad paint and all. Thanks for the comments.

Cool project. My road runner got the same treatment Before I bought it. Flat black engine bay and frame rails. Stevie wonder paint job.
