Hey N96 guys! How do you protect the rubber seals between the hood and breather?

the title says it al! The rubber is getting brittle and pieces come off every time they are touched!
 
It dry rots over time
no way to bring it back that I know of.
Replacing it is about all you can do
 
I shouldhave clarified lol i understand what i have is a lost cause, i dint know if there are any steps i can take to stop tje new skirt from doing the same thing
 
I use 303 rubber seal protectant for my door, windows, trunk seals and any other rubber parts on my car, it works great, get it at Walmart

Figure out how to stop time? I would think heat and exposure is the culprit. Not much you can do about that except to take care of it as moes suggested.

Correct. Heat, sunlight and time. There's not much sunlight under your hood, but there's plenty of heat & plenty of time has passed since 1969-1972
 
I use it on the hood to radiator and hood to cowl seals to. It keeps them nice and flexible.

Protectant 303 is pretty good stuff. It's packed in with most roof air vents for RV's.
