hello all.
I'm changing my car from a column shift auto to a 4 speed.
I've disassembled my steering column and I have a floor shift collar coming to replace the auto Lever and indicator collar
My question is this:
On a manual transmission column Is there still an inner "shift" tube but without the lever on the bottom that hooks to the auto trans shift linkage?
I'm assuming it has a "shift" tube as that's where the Allen set screw that holds the lower collar locates.
I don't want the auto shift lever on the tube in the engine compartment. It looks like it slips on the tube and is spot welded on. Do guys just cut them off when switching to a manual trans?

Thanks

you talking 68 69?

for 68 or 69 i just done that myself, yes there is a inner tube for manual column, but does not have the shift lever on it at the end of shaft cut my lever off tube they are the same except for the lever and the little copper piece at top for automatic column.

they also have a large spring on the bottom of that tube that pushes against the bearing.

Thanks guys!

Yes, for a 1968.

Does anyone sell the manual tube with the spring, or just the spring?
