"B" Bodies With 17" Wheels.........Post Your Photos

SSmoothie, love your color choice and the wheels! Would appreciate seeing a side photo of the car on concrete to get an idea of the stance with different sized rims like yours. Did you change the torsion bars from the stock .89 to something stiffer?

Damn Smoothie, I have been subscribed to this thread for one hell of a long time hoping to see the perfect 17/18 combo on a 68 and you nailed it....and an RM23 car to boot.
Please sir, exact rim size, backset and tire size if you will, on both ends.
Beautiful.

Thanks guys, the car is a the shop getting the rebuilt motor in. I'm also install the Hotchkis Swaybars and new suspension, I have the stock torsion bars as of right now and might install the Hotchkis in the future, I should have the car back in a coupe of weeks and will post more pics.

Also I will post tire size, and wheels, they were on the car when I got it, not sure of the offset.

I plan on doing the Hotchkis drop leafs and 2 inch drop spindles. Post some pics when you get it back.

At this time, I'm waiting to see the ride height in the back and have not purchased the rear leafs, because they say in will drop the rear about 1/2 or more and I don't know if I will have enough clearance. I added the new Hotchkis shocks and not sure of drop yet, (still on the rack and the motor was just put in? So I think we will have in on the ground by next week. Also same with the front, I'm not sure I want to drop it 2 inches or not.

Keep us posted on the suspension set up. You can be my guinea pig. The drop leafs shouldn't be a problem and I have read the drop spindles shouldn't either but one never knows. 1 inch in back, 2 in front should give it a nice low rake. I will go for it on mine unless I stumble across some info that says its a bad idea.
I would still like the specs on rims and tires when you can get to it.

Will do. Were its at tonight. Time to get some sleep.

I went with the Hotchkis TVS without the rear leafs, and sub-frame connectors, and keeper the stock torsion bars for will probably update in the future. All new Hotchkis non adjustable shocks, Wheels are American Torque Thrust II, 10 inch in back with 305/40/18 tire, and front are 9 or 9.5 with 255/40/17.

I just bought this car, and it is a little ruff around the edges but I sold my last Belvedere almost 5 years ago, have missed it terribly and could afford this one. Took these wheels off my Rambler project. Front are 17x7 3.75" back space and rear are 17x10 5.75" back space. Tight fit, but massage things a little and made them fit.

Here's a couple of recent pix of my Year One aluminum Rallye wheels 9" wide 5" backspace (the way they come) with my 2 year old Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials 315/35/17s. Totally stock rear suspension other than racing shocks that have no affect on fit.

American Racing Torque Thrust polished aluminum wheels 17x9.5 in the rear and 17x7 in the front.

What is the back spacing on both front and rear Smoothie?
That's pretty much the combo I want to go with on my 68.

Good morning all. When I had my 71 Scamp everyone was putting 18" on the a body's because of hitti ng the tie rod ends. Now I have a 67 Belvedere and the wheel of choice is 17". Can someone explain the reasoning behind this? Thanks, Clint.
