My Roadrunner has the 22 inch factory radiator. I'd like to get it completely refurbished. I am located in Virginia. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good, affordable place to send it ?
Do you think I'll need a shroud ?

Thanks

I've never had a shroud on my 383 HP 'Bee and it's 2 core x 22" rad. I actually hope to pick up my freshly recored 053 tomorrow if they have it done. Luckily they found an old stock core that will fit my tanks from their local supplier on Thursday. Do you not have an old school radiator shop in your town, where you can just drop it off and pick it up easily?

If you want to keep your original, Glen Ray (in Wisconsin if I remember right) is #1 for sure and definitely, definitely run a fan shroud.

Other cheaper options are:
1. find a radiator shop that can still re-core a brass radiator
2. buy an aluminum aftermarket one

I live out in the mountains, in central/southwest Virginia. Haven't found any shops nearby. I appreciate the info.

Hi I can tell you I have had lot of Radiator’s in my 69 GTX 22” that could not keep it from overheating Glenn Ray is the Best no more overheating now. I should have bought Glen Rays Radiator first would have saved money. Thanks KB9GIB

One more for GlenRay. They did my 69 053 radiator.
I run 165 all day maybe 175 when it’s hot. I use the shroud with a 440.

You get what you pay for. Pay two guys 350 each or GlenRay once.

Okay, sounds like the masses are happy with GlenRay radiator restorations. Was hoping you had someone like I have here in our town, a third generation run old school shop that's been doing radiators for almost 60 years. Grampa is gone, grandson is running the place now and he located the correct old stock core for me, but his 72 year old father comes into the shop to do classics correctly. I used the same shop (and the Father) in '88 to recore my incorrect for the car (318 vs 383) radiator and it has worked perfectly and is still about as clean as the day they refurbished it. Just correcting this round with the correct part # for my car or I'd put it right back in 30 years later.

There's a Place call Finger's in New Jersey. I saw some samples at a show this past weekend and everything looked really good. $450-$500 price range.

Glen-Ray. They can even put a stock looking heavy duty core in. It will look better than new, painted, with correct type overflow hose and mine even had new shroud hardware.

Bob at Glen Ray did 3 radiators for me now, and they are all perfect. Do it once and do it right the first time and move on to something else.

I called and talked to Bob. Hes a great guy. Found a place about an hour away also, but they want $500 and its not gonna be nearly as nice as Bob's work. I'll send it to Bob. Thanks everyone for the heads up. I greatly appreciate it.

The correct choice, nothing compares to his work and customer service. He wants me to send mine back because it will not keep my 318 with AC below 200 on 110+ days. His statement to me was "You spent a lot of money to not have to worry about overheating, and that is what my job was was so send it back when you have put away for a while." Problem is I never put it away :)
