Hey everyone,

As the title says I am new to this type of thing but I am very excited to learn. I am 24 years old, from Elizabethtown, NC, and love to hunt and fish.

I am looking for some pretty specific help. Recently I came into what I believe is an original rear wing from a Plymouth Superbird. I need some advice on two subjects.

1. How to know for sure it is an original. It is definitely aluminum, not fiberglass.
2. How much should a part like this cost?

I am not looking to buy it myself, but sell it for the owner. Before I do so I want to know for sure that I am selling the real thing. I have no reason to distrust the man who owns it, but I certainly don't want to unknowingly cheat someone. Pictures of the car are below.

As I said before I am at best a novice when it comes to cars and can use all the help I can get. Thank you all in advance!

:welcome: aboard!

Post a picture of the fender tag of the car the wing came off.

Welcome to FBBO from Georgia.

Why not sell the entire car?

Welcome to FBBO - you’ll find some very smart people on here that provide good info. I’m not so familiar with the winged cars so can’t help - but as said earlier why not sell the whole car why just the wing?

Welcome!

From the limited view of the back window in pic #2 it doesn't look like a Superbird, nor do the A pillars. The wing looks real from these pics, but it would be a BIG stretch to go off of them.

Thank's for all the welcomes!

The car is not a Superbird, it is a old race car. The wig was put on it in the early 80's. I'm not sure where the original car it came off of is, but I will ask the man who owns the wing and see if he can turn something up so I can get a picture of the fender tag.

Welcome from NW CT. 'Bird or not, that's a cool looking car! Best of luck...

Not busting your balls but this..
Wow... I just found this on ebay. Really 30k? https://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-A...d-rear-wing-/253427123718?hash=item3b016f0606

Haha it’s ok, everyone’s deserves some ball busting every now and then. But that was kind of my problem. even if what I’m asked to sell it for is outrageous I don’t know enough to reason him down to a fair price. Can’t find many comps online bc few people sell just the wing, or I am looking in the wrong place.

I will look at the link posted. Thank you!

Welcome to the madness from Concord NC . . .

Welcome to the forum....

The plus side it is aluminum....Secondly, are the mounting brackets in the trunk? The next key question are the measurements...Length and height etc....You could possibly have a bird wing or a daytona wing.....the latter will bring an even higher price....

This is where you need to ask your questions and get more detailed pictures for these guys...No offense to anyone here but the forum below is where the Aero car historians hang out....

Thank you very much! I know there are no brackets in the trunk, but that is because they were taken out and the fella who is selling it told me that upfront. I will go take measurements ASAP. I appreciate all the help.

You know after some thinking. I know how people beat you up on prices. So going real high might be the smart move. Then someone will make an offer you cant refuse. You might be on to something.
