got a 14 ram 5.7 HEMI what is the consensus??? yea or na????THANKS DUDES!!!!!!! 58,000 miles

IMO you should be fine, I use synthetic oil in my 04 Hemi truck and have 220K miles, started using it at 15K miles

Ok to swap but do you short trip the vehicle? If you are looking for longer intervals between oil changes and you short trip it a lot, then you will be doing oil change intervals just like you have been. My 95 Dakota is still running strong on regular oil and quit using Mobil 1 in the 2000 Durango a long time ago due to the wife short tripping the snot out of it. It also is still running strong on Rotella like my diesel and Dakota....

0-30 in both of my 5.7 Hemis. Amsoil Signature Synthetic. Ignore the 5-20 FCA recommendation. 20 too thin and 0 weight start up protection can't be beat. Annual change. WIX/Napa Gold Filter.

Do not ignore FCA recommendations if your Hemi has variable valve timing. The oil control valve used to direct pressure to the camshaft phaser is sensitive to viscosity changes. People have had their VVT fail because of this. If you use thicker oil and end up getting a P000B code on the OBD-II, you'll know what happened.

0 cold start flow. The 06 Charger has the shutdown and the 09 Challenger VVT. FCA recommendations all about emissions.

If FCA is all about emissions, what about their service bulletins? See TSB 09-015-04 and 09-013-04: “Vehicles with the Multiple Displacement System must use SAE 5W-20 oil. Failure to do so may result in improper operation of the MDS.”

OK. 5.7 purrs like a kitten. Quiet and good power. Want reliability and power. Not concerned with the MDS working.

Detectable MDS transition has remained the same since switching to the 0-30.

Synthetic costs twice as much, but lasts twice as long. Stay at or very close to the recommended viscosity for your motor. Don't believe any bolony you may have heard about switching back & forth....an old wives tale.

GM bulletin on my motor home says 0W is ok instead of 5W
I use 0W-40 Full synthetic euro spec all Group IV and V- no dino oil n fact made from natural gas
The 40 is a low 40 (or high 30) not a near 50-40wt
under $25 at wal mart for 5 quart jug - you can't get a better oil except maybe Redline
Better base stock takes less friction modifiers and less EP additives
as said above the 0W gives you protection not only when cold but when your daughter hits the freeway a block from the house late for school

Last time I tried Synth oil in my older cars it was seeping all over the place....the newer engines are built a "bit" tighter.........LOL
