Craigslist

Boy is that the truth......
Picked up a set of wheels/tires last fall, seller made sure we met in Wally parking lot up front in view of cameras.
He brought security force with him (Dad & Mom), by the time the "deal" was done we were best buds.

Craigslist is a bizarro world.
That said, ive done pretty well buying and selling there.

Recently bought a near NOS 1982 snap on top box. Had all the paperwork, keys and drawer slide release tools.
Came with a 1978 snap on "carburetor" box. Size of a miniature tackle box.

Sold the carburetor box on eBay and kept the top box.
When it shook out, I had 25 bucks in the top box.

Never had a problem selling or buying.
But I have seen on the news where people are robbed and shot,

That video was funny

You guys must deal with scumbags or some paranoid types...

I don't give out my address, personal e-mail or phone # etc.
until I get the gest of the person I'm dealing with
If they seem shady over e-mail I basically don't respond
or don't return answers question, that pisses them off enough
that they go bug someone else...

I'm careful too, but never had any issues, I'm a good size guy,
not too afraid of most people
If I don't like the way they sound etc. I'll meet them in a neutral ground...
If it's big $$$ I'll bring a buddy...
I'm always packing, maybe why, when money is involved...

I've actually met some pretty cool people from selling stuff on Craigslist,
I don't buy much off it, Albeit I haven't sold **** for 5-7 {?} years now...

I think I'd try here 1st... :luvplace:

Most problems arise from buyers that do not read the ad but most have been manageable. One guy came over with a new car in his eyes when I had advertised a Challenger roller with no engine/trans, interior or glass for 1200 bucks. He showed up with a wrecker truck to tow it so he at least knew it wasn't running. He was pissed and wouldn't shut up so I headed a couple of feet to the shop for a shot gun and told him he had 6 seconds to get lost before I started firing. He was heading away but was still mouthing off and that's when he got the 2 second warning. He was running to the truck by then :D

What I buy & sell, the only interested parties usually are old geezers like me.

i bought a car off craigs last year
and the buyer was very leery when i first met him
he told me he had been scammed by someone off craigs
when he sold something (i forget what)
he said the item was 600 bucks
and the buyer handed him 2 fake 100's in the middle of some cash
he realized it as the guy was driving away and
he had no luck trying to track the guy down.
