restoring 64 polara 500, i have original bucket seat, slider, floor mount installed, no headliner and my head hits the roof. has anyone lowered seat ,if so how?

If the seat reclines you may have to go that route. You could buy a low profile racing seat.
The thought keeps crossing my mind to sink the floor pan a few inches around the seat perimeter, but again wouldn't be factory correct.

trying to stay original, will look at hinge, may be able to change stops.

Assuming you already have the seat mount brackets adjusted all the way back in the slots? Farther back, and lowers.

Also if your seats have been reupholstered maybe check and see if they used to much padding.

Not sure about 62-65, but 66 and up have 3/8" thick by about 2" round spacers spring clipped to the studs that go through the floor.

I have a long spine, so that's the first mod I do to any new acquisition...
...usually on day #1. Get those suckers outta there.

1966 only (AFAIK) bucket seat tracks are adjustable for height.
There is about 1.5 inches of adjustment.

You might try to locate a set of those. Maybe '65 is that way too.
Never seen any up close.

If I remember correctly, my 65 seats can be adjusted up & down like yy1 mentioned. I don’t remember if they had spacers under them.

look for adjustment at the seat brackets. I have a 65 bench seat and I've fought head and leg room and i'm only 5' 9".

The 66 brackets are two pieces with bolts and semi-captive rectangle nuts sliding in "J" shaped slots.

I guess it's more of a stepped slot-

Looks like the bench brackets might be adjustable as well.

...and look at the drawing of the bench seat.

it's a pre-64 split back height model.

That suggests the early seat tracks might be adjustable too.

yep all the way back and all the way down.

Don't know if it's an option you would want to do. You'd also have to see how much room you have to work with.
Bottom halves of the mounts, cut more of the slots, to lower the seats.
