Anyone successfully disassembled a remote mirror to have the housing rechromed?
Well,,, ‘someone’ cracked my manual glass on left side; so I got a replacement glass for it & it worked great. Figured I’d lube up the pivot and now it’s almost too loose. This was a manual so no real knowledge on a remote. There is a new one in my future then.... Struggling on rechrome vs new..... I can now get almost all the trim for my 500 new.....
Chineseium?
http://www.beaparts.com/list_items.aspx?body=B&cat=E&subcat=33I did a couple of them about 12 years ago....not too bad if I recall. Built one for my car and sold the other to pay for the chrome work.
If a new one is in your future....what are you out trying? At least that's what I decided when I attempted mine.
I googled side mirror glass, don’t remember the company, it wasn’t Carid though .Did not dawn on me I could by new glass...... That makes it more doable....

The Chrysler mirrors were still available through the dealerships not too many years ago. You might want to check with some of the NOS dealers like AMS Obsolete as I know that they had several not too long ago. The reproductions are far from the quality of the originals.
