Anyone successfully disassembled a remote mirror to have the housing rechromed?

There is a new one in my future then.... Struggling on rechrome vs new..... I can now get almost all the trim for my 500 new.....

Well,,, ‘someone’ cracked my manual glass on left side; so I got a replacement glass for it & it worked great. Figured I’d lube up the pivot and now it’s almost too loose. This was a manual so no real knowledge on a remote.

I did a couple of them about 12 years ago....not too bad if I recall. Built one for my car and sold the other to pay for the chrome work.

If a new one is in your future....what are you out trying? At least that's what I decided when I attempted mine.

This is taxing my memory....but I don't recall removing the mirror from the holder. I believe I removed the cables from the unit that mounts on the interior and fed the cables out the mirror base. The unit that holds the glass came out as a whole unit.

Again....this is taxing my memory...but the biggest challenge I recall was getting the cables mounted back on the adjuster.

The Chrysler mirrors were still available through the dealerships not too many years ago. You might want to check with some of the NOS dealers like AMS Obsolete as I know that they had several not too long ago. The reproductions are far from the quality of the originals.

I was wondering... The price of the reproductions seems way to inexpensive to be high quality.

I disassembled my remote mirror to have the housing rechromed. I did not remove the glass from the holder though. I still may because the glass is pretty scratched. I believe Resto Rick sells new glass...
