I found this fan in the dumpster last year, and saved it.
Last week I found a near match for the motor at the "ReStore" for 15 bucks!
Orig was 2 speed, this one's 3, and the rotation is backwards, but it's an $80 fan for $15 and labor! It WILL get use this summer.

Great find!
I built a bigger one out of an old attic fan and a washing machine motor, when the capacitor took a dump, I decided I didn`t have the room for it anyway, and junked it. Get it turning fast enough, it`ll help w/ the mosquitoes too .

Me and my grand dad did the same thing, those attic fans moved some air!
When I was a kid that's all we had at night...it was awesome!

We have a ReStore up here, there are always some interesting things there, and I have picked up a couple of inexpensive items.

You have to be mindful of the prices.

Some are GREAT deals, some are actually more than retail for a used item.

I only buy stuff that I could make money from if I actually decided to sell. For the most part, unless its something I want for my collection, audio, automotive, or other stuff, then I am very careful about what I spend. I just bought a pair of studio monitors for 170 and sold for 250!
