Superbird value and what would you pay?

“Superbird value and what would you pay“

There value?

To much!

What would I pay?
50 cents!

I don’t need an exotic headache!

It is not your average car to paint.....So expect a much higher cost to paint and to assemble the body on a wing car.....

Concours paint jobs on these at the high end shops start around 100k......If your looking for a local shop that is good and I mean good will be about half that cost.....

So if your not going super nice and wanting a driver etc and an average paint job...Then all your money will be in the bodywork......

If your missing parts etc in relation to wing cars your in the HEMI category of parts prices......

Sometimes buying a nice restored car is a good path to go....and save a lot of headaches....

Or if you have the skills to do 90% than that is another good path...

It looks like an ok car but at every car show some one would read my vin and go is that a real bird and I'd have to say nope it's a clone .
I'm just to lazy to have to explain everytime .
Plus the nose makes it too long for my garage ..

, Here's a question. What exactly do you want to do with it? if just a driver ,get a clone. if money is an issue, get a clone.

I'd spend more than I have if the right car came along....I would think a decent 440-6 project car needing a resto with all the parts would be worth 75-95k if numbers match on driveline and the nose isn't hurt or rotted, 55-85 for a rotter numbers match 440-6, and 45-75 for a non numbers match any condition project. Of course it just depends on what you find and how much they are asking...not a lot floating around, just my thoughts. Just have to remember that a nose, or headlight assly, wing, or any wing car only parts are crazy money...so the more complete and useable, the better overall you will be and spending 10k to 20k more for a car that's not missing a nose or wing will be better for you in the long run.

DCCornet.. just wondering if this was the Orange bird out of I believe N.J. ? If so, I too stumble across it and was trying to negotiate the price down from a then asking price of $80K. Wouldn't move below $75K and when I contacted owner again it was sold for $75K....I now kick myself in the arsss !

Oops...I replied to your first post. Was meant for the post after... sorry !

Now days for me I would think long and hard on what else is out there. There sure a lot of faster more reliable modern cars you can buy for that much money that don't put stains on your concrete.

What kind os stains? oil or rubber? or what else?

They're not on my list, not a huge fan of the look but a very big fan of the story and dominance that came with them. Very cool cars just not my thing.

Oil,antifreeze. The older cars leak some where and it doesn't matter what kind of car it is,if you drive them they leak
Mine’s leaking on the garage floor as I type this. The reason it’s leaking is my transbrake drop on the street and the abrupt let off the gas that followed. The pan hit the pavement and got road rash. It was the type of fun that you can’t have in a newer car.

You can forget my post in regards to yours, done like yours I dig em!

well dont want to open a can of worms here but have seen many trying to be sold in the last year in the lower 100k area 115, 125, 149, and they are still sitting our muscle cars are loosing value fairly quick these days and I think its a trend that will keep on going my 67 rt lost 15k through hagerty in the last year and some of my friends larger collections lost several 100 thousand,
so for a project bird maybe 40 to 50 depending on condition MAYBE.unless you dont care that you have 50k more in a car than what its worth

Really? I haven't seen any for sale. Either way that's too much for me. I'm more in the budget of $40K-90K depending on engine (except hemi), rust, and work done. If you see or know of one let me know please
