I just purchased a 69 Coronet (a few weeks ago) and will be pulling out the motor and trans to put in a new Hemi with 6-speed.
Vehicle runs and drives, but the motor probably needs work (it backfires when I drove it). The guy told me he had the engine and tranny rebuilt in the last year or so (but had no paperwork). I don’t really know much more.
Basics:
- Big Block 440 (not original to the car)
- Block is stamped "D440 221" (which I assume makes this a 1968 block)
- Has ceramic coated headers (Dougs)
- Torqueflight 727 (not original to the car)
- Has MSD Atomic EFI kit (fuel injection versus carburetor) and MSD controller to view engine diagnostics
That is pretty much all I know about them. If you’re interested let me know. I’m in the process of pulling the car apart. Asking $3,000 cash for the motor, trans, headers, and EFI.
I will try to get a video of the car running this weekend.
