Rant - AMD

I've bought a ton of parts for my 69 Satellite. MOst of them fit nice, but the outer wheelhouses were terrible, and the cowl panel they sent me didn't fit at al. Sent it back and got one from Dynacorn. It dropped right into place. Fit like factory. It's sad that for what we pay for these parts that the quality control isn't better than what it is. Seems like the fit is a crap shoot. Sometimes they work great other times the same parts need major surgery to get a decent fit

Is your A pillar high as well?

What does the other side look like?

Looks like the cowl can't go down because of the A pillar.

I gotta ask - you recently joined this site and this is your first post.
Raises a question or two....
Not looking to be in the click, I have been doing Restoration work for allmost 40 years, Mostly Chevys and Fords. Hadn't had the pleasure to do one of these Mopars.
I bought this car from a customer when he lost interest in the project.
I joined this Forum to find parts and see photos of cars going together for referance.
Hope that answered your questions
This isnt a slam against AMD Sheet Metal. it was about how they handled my problem.
You will alway have a problem in a project!
I have a jig we build cars on, This car received Trunk Floor, Extentions, Quarters, Full Floor, Lower Cowl and will be installing a Full Front Clip Today.

Welcome aboard Rick, We had a hood show up 1/4" wide compared to a original .
get the cut off wheel fired up.

"Clique" or not, it's not typically the sort of first post someone makes when they join a group (or website)
unless one has an axe to grind or a score to settle via bad publicity.

"Mostly Chevies and Fords..."
Yep, figured as much. Mopar guys are a little more civil at introduction time.
Here, I'll demonstrate:

i didn't see it that way.
he had a problem and was treated poorly by the company that supplied the part
and he wanted to know if it was a common occurrence or if someone else has gone thru this?
I thought the same thing when they jerked my chain around
they try to make you think you are the problem
when its all them 100%

i never forgot when i was told
"we have never had any issues with this part." :bananadance:
then i find out that part has been retooled 4 times
and there are 4 different versions of the same part out in the market..

if he came here and called the part junk and the companies customer service a bunch of idiot assclowns (btw not far off from the truth lol)
then you might be on to something.
btw
I've done that also :D

AMD has a new supplier and their fitment is crap, tried to install wheel houses from the new supplier and not even fuckin close!!! I had one of their old wheel houses still and it fit great. Had to slice and dice the outer wheel house and then had to extend the trunk extensions. Plus none of it has the sharp edges the factory metal has. Prices go up and quality went down

I was happy with all they sent me. (Rear quarter, inner fender, radiator Crowl, and rocker panels) for my 68 coroner.
^^^^^^^

They were fast and even caught a mistake on a part number I had written down. Gave me a great discount and a break on the shipping since I was a member of this forum.
--Those Coroners are pretty rare AREN`T THEY ?--LOL

that is the part that has been retooled 4 times
so there are at least 4 different versions out in the market that i know of (maybe even more versions by now this was a few years ago!)
i had 3 of the versions at one time
all are JUNK
the problem with them is when they first made them
the original sample was from a 4 door car
and they were too stupid to know that 2 door and 4 door outer wheelhouses are different.

so they have been retooling a 4 door version to a 2 door version which has been a total cluster ****.

they should of scrapped the whole damn thing
and started over with the correct 2 door sample
my info comes straight from the horses mouth (AMD honcho)
but i had to beat the living **** out of him to get that information.

I bought full rear 1/4s, trunk floor, extensions, both inner & outer wheel houses, and Dutchman panel. I didn't have a single piece that just dropped in and fit. The wheel houses & Dutchman panel were the worst. I have tool and die experience and it was easy to see it's just poor workmanship on their part. Pieces that should have been mirror imaged weren't even close. Ya just gotta make it work, within reason.

i found the goodmark dutchman panel fit much better and looked more original
the amd has bumps on it that do not belong..

No, but it certainly should be. Lol. May help some folks focus.

Hey Guys
This situation is exactly what I have been writing about in the general discussion forum, vendors that are changing outrageous prices for parts and willing taking the money and then shipping inferior parts either from their own factories or from providers that they are not monitoring.
Let's face it, playing with classic cars, especially Mopars, is expensive but it is realistic to have $15-20,000. in a driver car? For me not really but I don't believe it has to be that way but we have been brainwashed in to believing that it is inevitable.
One step is to stop buying from retailers that sell junk and don't care.
