I've always had great success with MSD equipment. I run a 850 Holly DP on a 440 and like it. I have a 383 (400hp) with a FAST EFI on it that I absolutely hate! I have had numerous race mechanics try to get it to run leaner and they can't get it to respond and stay there. Their tech service is very unresponsive and their recommendations did not help. Everyone keeps telling me to change cams, go to 3.91 gear, and replace the trans and/or the TC. I did replace the dissy with an MSC AL6 and probillet and am putting in the 3.91 The heads are Edelbrock AL PRMs, new racing plugs and wires. I am going to purchase one of the new EFIs this week and can't decide. Can I get some opinions and experiences....plz. Thank you
One more thing, since the FAST has all the equipment (pump, reg, o2, return line, can I just get the trottle body and the read out and leave everything else the same, or do I need a whole kit?

Honestly, the best TBI's on the market these days are the offerings from FiTech. I had a MSD unit but they don't have much flexibility for setting them up. I purchased a FiTech Mean Street in December to replace my MSD and I'm impressed. The only thing this particular unit won't do is control timing but with 8 - 80 lb. injectors it's no slouch on delivering. You have complete control on it's function and I recommend reading the manual for the interface screen. Their online tech forum includes people who have "been there, done that" and the resolution to any issues you might have are a mouse click away. If your under 600 HP you might consider the next step down in size. I also have the same brand on my '64 Fairlane with a built 302 engine and although this car is only 475 HP their 600 HP unit works just fine. All parts for FiTech are made by Bosch or Delphi and can easily be had from local parts jobbers. Linkage on the FiTech's are identical to Holley, not so with MSD. The biggest issues I read about are poor installations and a lack of knowledge doing setups, even proffessionals who profess to have this knowledge. I've done quite a bit of research on all brands and this brand had a very wide range of offerings to suit my needs but you'll have to come to your own conclusion and budget restraints.

Rather than repeat all the things I've said about why I purchased and love my FiTech fuel injection I humbly suggest you do a search on this site for "FiTech". Invariably, those who have had problems with this unit haven't read or followed their detailed installation instructions.

Now that I understand EFI after owning my FiTech for a year I personally would look at the Sniper. I think Holley did a much better job at the software/firmware for the user.

. Their tech service is very unresponsive
I can't believe MSD is so popular with their almost nonexistent tech support.

I'm still shopping for evidence someday, so watching all the threads.

I have the MSD Atomic, it works pretty well does self tune and is pretty easy to install but:
1. The IAC is a bit slow, until I changed it to control timing it did not respond properly to a quick deceleration and stop. It's much better now.
2. The handheld works fine but is low tech.
3. Their mechanism for updating firmware and saving settings is poor.
4. They still are pricey.
I would imagine that one of the competitors newer designs would be a little better particularly one with a Bluetooth connection or a color touchscreen as the interface.

Thank you Forum. Ordered the Sniper.....cute little display. lol Holly has always been responsive, tech wise. Sounds like an easy set up and seems to have goo experiences out of the box. I got the kit, but don't need it. I am just replacing the throttle body and connecting the wiring. Hope that works. Thanks again.
