Heater Box With AC Restoration

Ah, this brings back memories! LOL Just make sure while you have it apart, if your evaporator was ever open to the environment get it flushed out, and seal it up after until you plan on hooking the ac back up, dirt can be a trouble maker as I found out the hard way a little dirt can easily clog up the filter in the system and cause it to stop working.

Makes since thanks

There are several threads on here that were very helpful.
I did mine last winter.
Take LOTS of photographs during disassembly, the will be needed for reference.
Detroit Muscle is where I got my gaskets and insulation from.
Have your heater core gone through and pressure tested, reuse it if possible, the remakes aren't nearly as well built and in some instances don't even fit properly.

As an added insurance policy I bought an extra A.C. heater box complete from a member here just so I could have an extra set of everything

Good luck
I could use some help on your post about several threads on a ac/heater box. Completed restro. Having difficultly try to install
the linkage as I did not pull the heater out. It came in pieces when I purchased the 1966 Satellite. No parts left over, but I think I'm missing a spring that connects to the vertical linkage arm to the box and might have install the other spring linkage wrong as it fit both ways. Driving me nuts, want to install in the car and move on. I have done non ac boxes and they are simple. I've used my shop manual which helped and look on line, but all other boxes are different years and no the same. Help.

Perfect. The same heater box. I can figure out the right way to connect the linkage for the defroster. I had it on backwards.
I had it on the right way the first time. This picture shows the way the vacuum rod runs, which is further back/ full extension which makes since.
This box was missing the vertical shaft spring. Any ideas where to purchase the spring.

I really appreciated your help. Chris

This is where I bought my spare heater box.
If he doesn't have the spring he certainly has the entire box.

I 3m glued the box seal to the one side. Question - do I get glue going on the other half before I put the two halves together, or does the glue go on only one side?

Instructions, videos, and threads here, make it seem just the one half gets glue, but making sure!
Thanks

I will be pulling the ac box in my 67 in the next week or so.
If you need any pictures , pm me

Also, keep in mind the boxes are unique.

66-67 is same
68-69 is same
70 is by itself

Like year C body boxes are decent parts sources but do not interchange as a unit
