63 Plymouth convertible top well

California built 63 would have number 5 in the forth digit of the vin ,Detroit built would be number 1 in forth digit ,and I Think New Jersey built would be number 6 in forth digit .

So you own a Detroit built 63 Fury V/8 car ,what number is under the A on the Fender Tag ,If it has no number it would be the base 318 ,5 would be 383 and I believe 6 would be 361 ,9 would be Max Wedge .

Wow that's good news, My car survives! And it is one of one! Where do I get one of those Darrel Davis books, It sounds like there are separate editions for each model Plymouth? Can I find out all the information on my current 361 automatic white with red interior and white top? Would like to see your black Sport Fury 426 SFC! Is it up and running? Pictures would be good. Mine had a Borg Warner 4 speed that I found. I still have the colum shift 3 speed that was attached to my current 383 that came out of a black 63 Fury 2 door hardtop I bought for the 383 way back in about 79. I imagine that would be a rare car today! The correct 3 speed was a truck transmission wasn't it? Ron where in Wi. are you? I'm 40 miles north of Madison, Beaver Dam. Like to see your car too!

Glenn ,the Darrell Davis book was available on E bay when I bought it that was a while ago Darrell Davis did a Great service for Everyone that owns and likes the Max Wedge cars .It make it Easy to Identify real Max Wedge cars he made seperate books 62 ,63,and 64 Plymouth and Dodge Max Wedge cars so there is 6 Books Total .only covers Max Wedge cars .It lists all the Max Wedge cars by Vin number ,I have owned my car 35 years and have learn a lot of other things about my car and others with all the Great information in that book .My car has been off the road since 1988 I bought it when I was 20 and did a paint job and other work to it but it needs to come apart and be Completely restored ,I actually talked to the original owner of my car in 1986 he was 20 also when he bought the car new .He said after he ordered his car it sat on the showroom floor for a while as he had to arrange financing for it .They only made 5 Hi Compresson 63 Plymouth Sport Fury Max Wedge of the 35 Convertibles made with 3 of them being automatics and 2 stick shift T 85 3 speed cars .My car is one of the 2 stick cars and the only one of the 35 with both radio and Heater Delete .Black car red Interior white top .it was sold by the since gone Monicatti Plymouth when it was in Utica Michigan .
Here is a picture as it sits now I put a Black top on it in 1986 before I realized it should have been White one of the things the original told me when he saw it in 1986. A lot of other cars have got ahead of this one thru the years but this is still my Favorite 63 Plymouth .Hope to start working on it soon .

Ok - no number directly below the "A". Glenn - you remember me from like 20 years back when you came across me in the Waupun j-yard? I was yanking out a heater valve from a Plymouth on a snow coated morning. Place was deserted that morning. We also ran into one another at one or two car meets. My Fury looked identical white body red interior. Last year I dropped a ton of cash (and time) in mine having the 318 re-machined/built up (regretting the motor build). Body is now gray with black top. Lots of other stuff done on it: Headers, 3" X exhaust, firm-feel steering, 15" magnums, 3:55 gears, new fuel tank, dynomatted, on and on. Car drives likely better than it did new. I don't live far from you; few miles from Holy Hill (Hartford) area.

Your lucky, you still own yours! I let $$$ get the best of me! I'm happy with my current Sport Fury though, I didn't enjoy it the same after it was returned to a max wedge. Was so much more valuable I was afraid to drive it! I was able to purchase my current 53 Buick Skylark because of its sale also. Its value just keeps climbing and I do drive it to shows though its a bit nurve wracking! See you have a 57 Dodge in progress, I'm a big fan of the Virgil Exner years too! does it have the D5 option? What body and model? Ron we will have to get together this summer with our cars! I also own my dads 63 Savoy six stick that I took my drivers test in in 70 and bought from him in 72. He bought it in Jan 64 as a demo. 54 years Iv been riding around in that car! I'm 65 and retiring in 3 months! What am I going to do with all this new found free time!! PS My friend has this 62 Savoy ex cop car he recently bought.

How many guys can say they still have the car they took their driver's test in decades later? Wow. Surprised I passed my test as my dad's '63 Grand Prix had tri-power with an irritating hesitation when pressing on the gas until later fixing that (to mechanical advance). I ended up giving it too much throttle and the instructor got laid back into the seat nearly losing his clip board. All of my apologizing must a helped as he passed me!

Wow your dad had a great car and I can beat that, After doing my u turn I proceeded to drive on the wrong side of the street till the stop sign, the instructor saying hadent I better get in the other lane! then when I parked on the hill I forgot to release the parking brake and said OH **** when I killed it, restarted it and proceeded to run the stop sign. I did not pass! talk about being humiliated! My second try I was less up tight and Thank god I passed! OH The Memories!!

If you get a chance check out the build date on the Convertible ,Thanks

Strange how I took a real liking as a little kid to later 50's Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouths too even though my folks didn't own any. My uncle had a '57 Desoto and another uncle had a 57 Dodge and a close family friend had an Imperial 57 as well. Just thought they had a great look and the fins were cool. Was also keen on the pushbutton trans thinking how cool that was. Later my uncle with the Desoto got a 64 Sport Fury he took me for a ride in (well he had to make a booze run at a family party) and ran it hard shifting the buttons to new rubber screeching between the shifts. That day on I said someday I have to have a car like that! Always a drop top fan I eventually latched onto the 63 Fury vert I've had now 23 years.

That's a great story Ron, Your uncle is the one to blame! And 426 your collection is impressive !! I have always been fascinated by the Canadian PLodges. that 63 thread is great, I didn't know there was so many of us 63 nuts out there! My brother inlaw has two 63 Polar 500s a 2 door hardtop and a covert both 383s the convert a 4 speed. I need to get him to join here.

Glenn ,I have always like the Canadian Plodges myself ,Never thought I would find a Convertible let alone 2 . They made 82 Total 58 Mayfair Convertibles .

Two 58 Furys too! You must be a big Christine fan! Love that Steven King! Kathy is deep into his latest 700 plus page horror story! I almost had a 56 Fury around 72! Id like one of each 56,57,58 Fury!

I have always liked the 57/58 Plymouths and Dodges ,That is really something you have had your Dads 63 Savoy all these years ,It looks great .

Makes me regret not buying the black and red '59 Dodge wagon at Jefferson meet some years ago.
