63 Plymouth convertible top well

Glenn if you Goggle 1963 Plymouth Max Wedge Convertible two Different u tube videos come up ,part 1 and part 2 ,part 1 is basically like the car was found and part 2 shows the body with all the body work complete and new paint .What a shame the car was lost to that fire .Those 6 Max Wedge cars I have represent about 41 years of searching ,Thanks for the invite to Wisconsin ,it is nice to know your Max Wedge car is still around ,I wonder how many of the original 35 63 Plymouth Max Wedge Convertibles survive.

Yes thanks, There is no link on the car after the fire? was the restoration completed or was it lost at the body shop? Ill hopefully see both of you at Jefferson! You to 62 Polara come on up to Wi.!

I didn't find any other links only the posting about the fire from the owner, it looks like it was at the owners house just back from paint ,very sad to lose a piece of history and a Great car .

Yes I agree! The pin on the left rear arm that connects to the ram on my top sheard of! any advice on how to drive it out and what do I replace it with?

Glenn,If the the pin sheared off it shouldn't be hard getting the pin out ,but I would wonder what made that happen ? Was the top still locked when the top was trying to lower ? Or maybe just the latch was catching .

Its the large pin that connects the two arms together, Its not the piston pin, I was putting the top up and suddenly the left side of the top just let go, the arm that connects to the piston was not attached to the next arm up anymore. Its like a large steel rivet. I guess age did it in.

I never had any of the arms on the top rack apart ,but I think I know of the pin your talking about .

IV been dreading tackeling it all winter but hopefully the two pieces will come out with out too much trouble and I can find replacement, I wonder if any body offeres such a pin.

If you get it out post a picture and will see if we can figure something out.

OK, One of these weekends when it warms up Ill have at it. Just how old are you any way? Just curious , must be about my age, 65. You must hold the record of most 63 max wedge cars on the planet!

Glenn ,I am 55 Born November 62 when the 63 s were new in the showrooms ,I never ran across a lot of real Max Wedge cars and when I did and could afford them I bought them ,so I came across and bought 5 ,63 Plymouths and 1 64 Plymouth Max Wedges ,The first one was my Convertible in July 83 Bought a lot of them before a lot of people were collecting them .

Ha you were way ahead of the crowd! You need to take a family photo of all of them lined up and post it! Imagine you have many spare max wedge goodies also!

I actually collected these cars because I liked them rather than think they would worth anything .Its been Interesting collecting Max Wedge parts for the cars thru the years ,Most of the Max Wedge cars of the Era didn’t have a easy life .would have been nice to have one new and take car of it .
