Forwards or back if you're turning it seems like it binds up and then Pop. Anyone know what this is?

If a clutch-style sure grip, could be the clutches binding/hanging up and then releasing..

Clutch or cone style suregrip, or Detroit locker? A locker will usually do that, and a suregrip will too without enough limited slip differential lube.

Add a bottle of lsd sauce, see if it helps. Most any auto parts house will have some, i dont think brand will matter.

this is what they call chatter -- if your gear lube is not that old simply add a bottle of friction modifier ( Ford brand is the best )--- if the gear lube is old change it and add the friction modifier. take the car out for a run and do some figure 8's or circles one way then the other to work the new fluid into the carrier --- the chatter should disappear

POP? What kind? Pepsi or Coke? LOL (I'm from Iowa. It's pop and not soda here)

Yes friction modifier is probably what you need. If your rear is full you may have to buy a suction gun to pull some out.

Damn right it's pop. I'm from Kansas, soda sounds like the carbonated stuff they used to put into ice cream sodas.

Check your brakes inside the drum. If a spring snapped, it may be a shoe hanging up.

Gotta say if it’s doing it around corners, and you have a clutch style sure grip, I would a bottle or 2 of the FERD additive. Then do a bunch of figure 8’s in both directions. That should clear it up. If not, time to check brakes, all good there, pull the center section.
