Am prepping the car for paint and removing all stainless/chrome moldings. The only piece that’s giving me a fit is the drip edge piece over the doors. It has a lip on the bottom that snaps under the drip edge. I’ve tried everything I can think of to remove this piece without damaging it. Does anyone know the trick or magic words to remove this piece? As always appreciate any and all comments.

Unless it’s been glued on, I’ve used a bottle cap opener wrapped with tape. GENTLY working back and forth starting at one end.

On second thought, not sure what a Sport Fury would have as drip rail trim, I’m thinking the narrow trim like on a post car. Would you have any pictures?

I’ll post some tomorrow. It’s not the thin rail trim its abt an inch wide. It covers the drip rail though.

There are clips that hold it on. Search the site someone posted pictures of them a few months ago.

Here are the photos of the drip rail molding. Still haven't figured out the removal process. Earlier post said held on with clips....I only found one clip.

It's been too long, since I've done mine, so don't remember.
Are there any screws on the underside of them? Later today, I'll look at mine. If there's no screws, kinda recall they have to be gently pried out of place. Pretty sure, when going back on, had to force them into place.

Got a service manual? Might be something in there. It shows what takes clips, what doesn't.

That is probably the key to it...ease the lip out of place. Nothing of any use in the manual.
Mine is a 64 SF, too...same trim.

There is usually two clips that hold them on. I used a thin metal putty knife from the top. Slide to find where they are located, and then mark. Take the knife and push down while prying gently. The clips are very, very hard to find that are not broken. Joe Shuchy has a newer style that are screwed to the roof if you break any. I will look to find mine, so I can post a picture of what they look like.

Thank you....found one of the clips. Will look again.

Yes, I'd be interested to see what they look like, too.

Guess I'm getting too dang old...don't remember them on mine. Something I DO remember, like in your channels under the trim. Besides the normal crap, also had some rust under the seam sealer. Think it's called drip-check. Had to remove all of it, deal with the rust, and re-seal it.

I tried to start conversation with you, but only got message that there was an error. I was looking to get email address so I could send picture to you. I don't know why picture is not showing. It was showing on my computer, but then went blank.

Hmmm...don't know what's up with that. I'll try from my end, and give you my email address. Appreciate you trying!

That link says gotta be logged onto AOL, before it will work.

Still a little bugged about the 'clips'. Been too long, since I installed mine. With all the trim in place, impossible to see anything. Have a few spare pieces of the trim, in my open shed, so I'll look after it gets light.

Only thing I can really think of, regarding those clips, and the way that trim mounts...maybe what I call 'stands'. The top edge of the trim sports a narrow gap, to the roof itself, and those stands would force the trim off the roof, making that gap.

Besides kinda snapping into place, main thing that holds them on is the front/rear upper corner trim pieces, that fit over each end. He has them off.
Grey matter fogging up! I'll finish banging my head now.

(With all the loose 64s getting worked on recently, you'd think...)
