Stamped on pass front of block.

Rear pad stamp reads: R24780186

Cast # 24681309 Date 04-24-68

Let me know if its yours!

Is there a VIN at the back of the block near the oil sending unit?

I posted the stamp from the bottom pad.

Yes, but if you are looking for the owner, you will need to post info, like a VIN, to a specified car. You’ve posted engine assembly numbers, which not something that can be cross-referenced to anything.

I thought the stamp on the bottom pad was the partial vin #?

Stupid question but from what I have heard 68s did not have a VIN stamp till later in the run??

When a VIN was stamped seems to vary. I’ve seen “early” 1968 StL cars (103xxx range) with a VIN.

There seems to be discrepancies as to which blocks got stamped when and at which plant. It would be a great topic of detailed research.

Look here on a 68

Not in 68. Gotta look at the top off the bell housing and upper rear of the engine. With your dates there should be a # stamped there.
