I'm sure this has been discussed before but I cant seem to find the easy answer,

I want to put the 15 inch stock rims on my 70 GTX with the dog dish caps, what holds the caps on? are there specific rims that only take the caps? And which caps are correct for the 70 GTX?

Since my car will be Vitamin C , I think I'm going to do black or body color matched, how did they come originally?

Going for the PIC i attached

Lucky for you Tony's Parts has reproduced the "450" steel rim at a fair price. If you go steel, that's the only way IMO. They would be body color. The caps are held in place by lugs stamped into the rim. The correct caps would say "Plymouth Division".

The old caps were held on by the rim. This is the reason you have a flat end on a lug wrench. Popping the caps off.

Thanks! Anyone try the reproduction rims? Ive heard some people say the caps dont stay on well with the repo rims? Ive got 1 15 inch steelie now and 2 more origional ones Im about to buy so I'll only need 1 more, I'll have to goole the origional caps to see what they look like.

If you're trying to go original, and you don't have a broadcast sheet with wheel cover codes to reference, I think 1970 B's came factory with body color 14" steelies/caps when no other extra-cost option (deluxe, wire, rally, road) were specified. Black were on A12s and sometime after 1970, or if caps cover the entire rim, and spares.

Tony's recent 450 wheels has some discussion on them somewhere.

No broadcast sheet I wish!! dont , all i have is a 70 GTX with 3 matching vins, no matching motor etc, but im told its pretty rare by gtx registry 1 of 193 vitamin c origionally

I used 15x7 cop wheels with the Plymouth division caps in front, needed to clear Disc brakes. !5x8 with a 4 1/2 back space in the rear. All painted body color. 235-60-15s front 275-60-15s rear. Looks bitchen and no rubbing. Not a #s car so do what Ya want. Had the fronts but got the rears from Summit on sale, $80 each IIRC. The caps hold on nice and tight.

Nice! got a pic of the car? Summit sells the cop rims?

I have lots of cop rims- even on a 88 ltd and a 77 pacer and 68 polara- had them on my 73 wagon
I have the stainless caps with the holes and caps with red or black stripes
used to be lots of them at pick a part

I am thinking the same combo...I don't have disks on the front YET...But I will...Will I also need 15X7's 4.0 BS on the front, or will a 15X6 3.75 BS work ?
Thanks !!!

I think you will be fine with the 3.75 in the front but go with a 15x7 for a bigger tire if you want.

So I blasted 1 rim 15x8 i think , lol cant remember, bought a tire changer and mounted 1 to see the results, 275 15 70 on rear , i think ill use the 15x7 on front with the 235s and buy the 15x10 for the 275s on rear with proper BS.

I scored 2 15x7s with 5 dish caps for 100$ canadian shipped to me to boot lol the rims were super clean. caps are driver quality,

Sorry, not a B body, but no less dog dish (15 x7 rear, 15 x 6 front) Wouldn't have it any other way.
We Canadians like our Mopars just as much..... If not more than most.
Especially hard when we can only enjoy them for just 6 months of the yr.
The other 6 we just talk up a storm with what we are going to do with the engine, suspension, etc for next yr.
Best of luck with your ride N.S.

And yes the need to say Plymouth Division

Yes wondered that if im supposed to find the caps that say plymouth division on them. Still looking for 2 more rims . Ive found some more caps i might buy. They have the round holes around the cap. Havent seen any plymouth ones yet

You could use these. Only $110 each and they will accept 9" poverty cap. You can buy them from Summit and Jeg's too.

If squad wheels have the bumps to retain a poverty cap they are 15x7. Super Coupe and Magnum GT wheels don't have the bumps to retain a poverty cap.
