I have been running a Holley 4781(850) for years and thought about trying one of the AED 1000HO carbs. Anyone had any real world experience as to whether I would just be wasting my money?
Street/strip 440 that runs consistent 11.30s

a friend up the street uses a 1000cfm custom carb, not sure if it's AED. it has the same venturi and throttle bores as an 850. shafts are streamlined and body is contoured. I think the real deal is cost. I think he gave a $1000 for his and in my opinion there's no way there could be $1000 worth of performance gain over a 4781.

You gotta find out what your Venturi in the 850 is vs what your looking to going too. An old 850 is a 1.56 which is way bigger than some of the other 850’s or even 950’s. I swapped a 850 main body I had to a 1050. It has a 1.59 Venturi. I went with anulars thinking they would be better for my heavy street car. Carb works great, and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to do a main body swap vs buying another carb.
