I rarely see my daughter and grand kids. So, I signed up for a Facebook account to see photos and videos of them. Afterwards I learned that all the Tech CEOs will not even let their children have a Facebook account. The last straw was after all the uproar over Facebook's lies and cover ups, data sharing and selling, etc. I decided to delete my account. Then I read this article about a Facebook internal memo about growth at any cost:

"
Growth At Any Cost: Top Facebook Executive Defended Data Collection In 2016 Memo — And Warned That Facebook Could Get People Killed"

Never did Facebook, twitter, tweeter, or any of those things, and never will. Figure I spend enough time on FBBO to get all the interweb exposure that I need.

I stopped going there a couple of years ago. I just used it to keep in touch with the kids. One was out of the country. Other than that I'd rather sit in with a bunch of quilters at a quilting B! :realcrazy::blah:

It's not easy to have them delete your profile or account. It's a bunch of crap to go through and I didn't fool with it. I had a friend check and I'm still on there...

never joined. seemed to be more of a teenager/young adult thing to me; and i'm far from either.

I was only on it for a short time. It didn't take long before it became incredibly stupid to me. Too many suggestions to like something that I could care less about and updates from people bragging about how comfortable their new toilet paper was and other such nonsense. In the beginning I viewed it as a way to try to connect with friends from way back but they kept changing software and turned it into a useless waste of time. I got so irritated that I posted that I was going to create a competing web site called "ButtBook"! I was very disappointed when I learned it already existed. As mentioned above, getting off it is not easy even though I followed directions. It didn't work and I got so pissed off that I started typing the F word a bunch of times which brought on a moderator who "supposedly" deleted my account. Facebook, you can kiss my _ss! :icon_fU:

Lol, I thought about having a bunch of people that I know report me so they would delete my account!

Yup, can't delete a faceplant account, they will only 'deactivate' it. By their terms & policies, they OWN anything one posts there & can do anything they want with it. But it gets better.....ANYBODY that is online is subject to being invaded by zuckerfuck, facecrap can invade ANY email account & change ****!!!!
I'm shutting down everything very soon, going back to basic flip phone & skedaddling the 'Blue Nowhere'...no more internet whatsoever. Phone & 'hard mail' is the only way I'll communicate. My android billing is on the 14th, so by the 12th I'm dropping the account & changing over......pitching all internet crap to the curb. Will it keep me off the radar? No, but at least it makes a statement & a little less easy for the hackers, crackers & spys. This frog is leaving the pot before it boils over completely.

#DeleteFacebook

I guess there's some movement now

I don't have an account
I won't ever have an account either

I only go there when directed by a link here or on another forum
usually car related or parts related, I can do without that **** too
to many intrusive banners & BS, for non members anyway...
In short, the very little time I've spent there it sucks...

I don't do twitter or snapchat etc. etc. etc.
or any other lame *** crap, lefty Billionaires ran social media...

:lol: except a couple of Joeys forums :blah:

"Allegedly" from a few people I know, have said;
"it takes a while" {like 30 days or more}
to "voluntarily leave them" trying to cancel an account...

Seems they don't like giving up the information, a cash cow of sorts,
unless you have conservative views or curse too now it seems :cursin:
they sell & use your information for various reasons, profiting I'm damn sure,
seems for even the evil {Left :screwy:} side of political isles now too...

We will miss you. But I understand completely.

The prompts during the deletion today advised that the account was now dormant and deletion would be complete unless I logged in during the 14 day waiting period.

At 36 in the only one of my friends that doesn't have Facebook, but I'm the only one that has a classic car, changes my own oil and doesn't drive a Chevy or an import. Think I chose well

That's not what they told me, We had a huge row, made me show 3 forms of ID, then after I grudgingly did, they said they would only 'deactivate'. Like KK said, I had somebody check after a while & sure as **** my page was still on there!

I was going to suggest that if you want to delete your account...start by posting multiple messages with the following text;

"Mark Zuckerburg is a useless thieving cu*t."

I will say , I do have a fb account but i use it as a tool to keep up with certain news , keep in touch with friends that I've met while over seas , family etc. I also joined some groups there such as plymouth road runner group , mopar classifieds , mopar projects group etc. I dont put info that I wouldnt show any stranger on there. big business, big gov etc , there is always a certain amount of corruption or what I would deem a lack of morals. look at joey,,, he so secretive , he wont even get shirts for us ! ;)

I'm sure they would strive harder to keep lefties and useful idiots. But, their algorythm made it clear to them I was a Bible thumping Christian, gun toting, Constitutional conservative. So, I think they made it easy for me to leave taking my unwanted opinions elsewhere.
