I usually see side trim on the '70 Coronet 440 models, but I don't think I've ever seen it on a 500. Does anyone know if it was optional on the 500's? Talking about 2-door cars here.

do you mean rocker side moldings? Here is a picture of a friends 1970 Coronet 500 N code 383 HP with rockerside moldings.
  • R/T trim added from the factory

I had an unmolested 70 500 parts car and it had body side molding.

I don't think he said that.
Not my interpretation anyway

heavily modified cars are bad examples to prove any factory config.

the way I read it was that it's a 500 that the factory added a bunch of r/t trim on to. sounded like another factory 383 hemi story lol

I have two 1970 Coronet 500 parts cars. The two door had the chrome rocker mouldings, the four door had a thin sort of “rub bar” that followed the body line from nose to tail. I can’t say that it came that way from the factory but the rocker mouldings on the two door certainly were.

sorry, I should have worded it differently, what I meant was the R/T trim was added using factory parts and emblems from a wrecked R/T. I didn't mean it was built like that from the factory.

the side trim that i think he is referring to is not rocker trim
it runs the center of the whole body line front to back
its metal with a coronet 440 (2 separate emblems )
that would go in front of the trim on the front fender.
i know this because i have a very nice set off of one fender
that came from a
'70 coronet 440
a long spear and a coronet 440 emblem
i tried to sell it with no interest years ago
i have pics of it in my garbage bucket somewhere

I can't find the pics on my computer
but i still have the parts somewhere
i will get some pics if i remember.
i bought some 70 coronet fenders for a superbird clone
and one of the fenders had those parts on it and i had never seen them before.
i do not think they were very common.

a pic of the emblems that came on the front of the fender
the 440 in the pic is missing the 0
i do have a complete one somewhere

I just skinned a 70 door that had a line of holes (they had been welded up) right through the middle of the door....... can't say what model it came from, prob a 440 based on Flypaper's experience

Thanks for all the responses guys, I've been offline dealing with family stuff. I was scrolling through Google images and found a couple examples of 500's with the body side trim as well. Here are some pics. So probably few and far between but yes it looks like they could be ordered with that trim.

Do you have a rear body panel available from one of your 70 coronets
