1972 Dodge Charger Rallye project

While I’m waiting for pieces, pickup up a set on new Magnumforce chromemoly tubular control arms, and they had their new powder coating semi-gloss black on them, which is to me more resistant to chips than previous blend they carried.

So how strong is that finish? I've never payed the extra for powder coating I'm told it's nice but looses it's looks fairly quickly? I've used undercoat before then just painted all the same flat/semi ,down the road it needs a touch up it's easy and looks good as new quick! I am contemplating powder coat this time around on my rallye build as I'm going high end on everything else why not .... right?

The finish normally last a little while and is supposed to by chip resistant to some degree over paint. On this formula they use, they were banging painted parts metal-to-metal and non of it was chipping off or looking cracked as some powder coating has done. I will have two types of powder coated suspension parts on the car and will tell with time how they hold out.

Well after double shifts at work and 2hr drives in rush hour traffic, finally getting time to post pics. Stage two Firm Feel Inc large bearing box fresh and power coated By Dick, Dennis and Ross should make for some fun steering on the road.

Went down to Magnum Force and they had my parts done, powder coating looks great on the k-member and parts. I had them also do the brake parts just because I wanted some cleaner looking parts to wilork with.

the k-member looks super nice and they really did nice job cleaning up the welds before coating it.

I decided for ease of parts, I went with 73'+ a/e-body disc brake. I figured with all the driving I plan on doing, if something should fail on a road trip, it would be easier to find later large bearing brake parts than 1972 pin-type brake parts.

Bodywork is coming along nicely. The shop will let it sit for a few weeks to let the skim filler fully harden before final bodywork prep is done.

Just found out AMD is making the hoods at end of the years and a company is making fiberglass Rallye doors, but you could just order the skins and graph those on.

That will be cool, Where can you order the skins?

No, I had it media blasted with mild sand type abrasive which was not as harsh and a little easier to clean up.
Got back from Spring Fling and picked up some goodies. Ed at ‘The Mopar Shop’ was able to order me a new tinted front windshield from AMD and Ted/Jackie from Steven’s Perfornace were coming to the show and dropped it off there, saving me almost $150 in shipping costs! Ed also got me a new engine harness so my motor will look nice. Another special thanks goes to Bruce at Dan’s wiper motor restoration whom not only gave me a prettiness wiper motor at a great price, he even threw in a wiper motor cam gear when he heard I didn’t have one! This is the main reason I enjoy mopars, everybody is always pretty damn cool and makes the hobby fun to be in.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::popcorn2:Awesome car and love watching the progress on this beauty.

body work is done, fully dried for couple months, now ready for primer and next time paint.
