Who makes a good trunk seal? I replaced mine and now the trunk leaked when I washed the car and it didn't before. I know it's on there right but it's apparently not thick enough

are you sure it is leaking from the seal? I get in the trunk with a flashlight and close it and get a friend or my wife ( I make sure the wife is not mad at me at the time or you can be in there for a while. LOL) to run the hose around the back window incase the the leak is coming from dutchmen panel and trunk area seal to see where the leak is coming from. I've seen leaks from the dutchmen panel over the years to. I've always use Soff Seal gaskets and have never had a problem with leaks on my cars.

maybe I'll have her get in the trunk! I'm pretty sure it's the seal, never had a problem until I replaced it. I can't remember what brand I bought

I tried over the years to get her in the trunk to look for the leak and she told me good luck and go jump in a lake while you're at it!!! LOL

my trunk leaks too , thats my next struggle , but my rubber is old , where did you buy yours from?

As mentioned, check to see if water may be coming in under the seal next to the rain gutter. Does your trunk seal have the factory style lip that drops down into the trunk area? There is probably at least eight to ten different groups making the trunk seal. Quality, fit and correctness is all over the board, but for the most part, if properly attached, most do the job. I have had some complain that the Metro style is a bit too thick causing issues with closing the deck lid. If you feel that yours is a bit too thin and water is not coming in under the seal, loosen the striker bolts and just slightly tap to lower it so as to pull the decklid tighter to the seal if it does not affect the body line fit.

it does not have the lip. I can't remember who I got mine from but I am going to check out everything else before I buy another one. Just seems odd that it didn't leak before I replaced the seal. Thanks for the info guys

So I replace the seal with a Steel rubber seal, theirs does have the lip that drops into the trunk area and I still have a leak! I got in the trunk after I wet it all down to check and it's coming from the right side. Based on what I saw inside, I'm thinking it has to be the back glass seal, anybody think different? How big a deal is it to get that back glass out of there without trashing the paint?

Back glass is very easy, there is no seal just butyl rope. Pop the stainless off and work some piano wire between the glass and the body, easy day ..... why don't you lay in the trunk with a flashlight and have someone hose it down so you can be positive where the water is coming in ? Would suck to pull the glass only to find out it was never leaking !

Agreed and I'll do it but since I know for sure it isn't coming from the trunk seal, there's nowhere else it could be coming from is there?

I would not go there yet. I have had my glass out twice and it still leaks in the Left front corner of the trunk. I think it is more the weep hole in bottom corner of the window. Remove the trim and look in the corner. It appears this is to try to drain the water from the channel behind the trim into the trunk and then out through the quarter panel or something. I have not explored where that weep hole goes to or how it is suppose to drain without going into the trunk yet.

my trunk gets water in it at on the left , next thing I'm doing , i forgot about it and rained all my stuff is wet

Metro Moulded Parts out of Minnesota - makes good replacement seal material. That’s where I got all mine. Not cheap but good quality.

Is it a drip drip leak or does it run into the trunk? Has your rear window been replaced? Could be the butyl tape seal came away from the glass. If so you can pack more in from the inside.

Maybe the gutter seam at the corner wasn't body seam sealed 100%?

The rear window was not out so I'm thinking the glass seal. Going to get in the trunk next and have somebody wet it down so I can see exactly whats going on

I bought an OER brand through classic industries. Rubber had a nice feel to it, was formed very nicely and sealed great.
