I thought I’d start this post to document what I’ve done and plan on doing to 69 Super Bee. A little back story, I’ve wanted a 69 Super Bee since I was 16. My dad still has his 69 Roadrunner that was his first car he got when he was 15. So I guess you could say I grew up on mopars. Going to shows and always watching my dad work on his car. At 30 I finally got my dream car. I was on the look for about two months and found this automatic 383 bee in Kansas City, Mo. my dad and I flew out to take a look at the car and it was just beautiful as the pictures.

It did have a few things that the car was missing such as a fuel tank vent and transmission kick down as well as the parking brake cable and rear drum parts to set the brake. The drivers door handle didn’t work and the transmission had a leak. All pretty easy fixes. We took it for a test drive and purchased it the next day. Once we got it home the work began. 7BEBBD89-2999-44CB-A467-9DD35C7BDD1D.jpeg 01CE37F2-EDF1-4FF6-AF8E-96C3B829CD96.jpeg 7793C260-5650-4EDD-86AC-9F2BC94D5D51.jpeg
First we addressed the fuel vent issue, after that we moved onto the drivers door. We found once we pulled the door panel a bolt that holds the mechanism in place was loose. We routed the cable for the emergency brake and luckily my dad still had the rear drums off of his car and we were able to snag a couple parts out of them that were missing in mine. I’ve learned never throw away or sell any parts being pulled off the car. You never know when you might need them again. The trans leak was coming from the pan bolts pinching the gasket. 7BE46731-6183-4637-B9D5-37D6AB03F8CD.jpeg

Nice looking Bee and congrats!

The way you searched and purchased it is the best way to go today. Little fixes and changes are easy to handle and save a ton of $$$ versus a restoration.....

Stick the key and go......

Love the color as well...

The grill and tail panel were originally from a coronet I believe and were all silver, so I taped them off and shot them black. As well as shot the high beam lights with yellow glass paint.

Next we moved on to the motor. My dad still had his Edelbrock intake from when he was in highschool so we cleaned it up and added some polished valve covers, a quick fuel carb, And fabed up some new fuel lines. We added new msd coil and new air cleaner. I also removed the windshield washing tub and hoses for a little cleaner look. After that we added a chrome alternator with billet mounts and found out the person who had restored the car drilled out one of the mounts for the alternator so the 3/8 size bolt wouldn’t work. We drilled that out and added a new threaded (bolt?) to bring the hole size back down to 3/8.

I added a wood grain steering wheel, not sure I’m totally happy with it being a 14” without power steering but it will work for now. Also threw in some Simpson lap belts. And began installing a B&M floor shifter. After a good 2-3 hours of measureing debating and measuring again we ended up drilling the 1” hole for the shifter cable about 7” in front of the shifter. Hooking up the shifter cable to the transmission was pretty straight forward. We also mounted the kickdown cable to the transmission and carb at the same time.

Although I love my 68 road runner, my dream car is a 69 coronet as well. Really like your car thanks for the pictures and updates.

LOVE IT.. of course I'm a tad biased!

FYI, the front grill looks great. If you want OE correct the outer wide bump should be "bare" and shiny and all the smaller webs black.

Yeah I found a picture online where the raised bump was painted and I thought it had a little cleaner look black. Same with the back tail pannel. The two bare raised lines above and below the dodge lettering I painted black as well.

Sweet bee. Sweet color. Looks to be in outstanding condition. The interior is beautiful.

Cool build style, nice looking 69 Bee
love the green

Installed a new milodon oil pan and pickup and took the car out for a spin. Next weekend shooting for installing a shift kit and servicing the transmission as well as adding a larger transmission pan. Bucket seats ordered and should be here in a month. Steadily making progress.
