what's the fastest you have drove your car?

Either way, it still makes the OP an idiot for traveling that speed on a public road. I drive for a living, people like that get OTHER people killed.
Depends on when and where it was done. You assume to much and show yourself exactly as you name the poster.

To that end, @ 3:00 am being the only one on the road, 156 mph in a ‘73-4spd Cuda.

The 198 was done on very straight and long road. The 2nd best thing about the Hellcats is the brakes. I have hit 1.2 Gs braking. Going this fast isn't the smartest thing that I have done, but wanted to see if it would do what the factory claimed. I don't if the Demons will do 9.65 as claimed, time will tell.

And out west (at least from these ocean shores!) there are plenty of straight roads.
You gotta do it just to be sure! Of course! LOL
I only topped out my Cuda once and only once. Been there done that.... we’re good! Called it a day. I’ll never return to that speed. I just had to know for myself.

The next time, if I dare to do so, will be on a track/salt flat, whatever with EMS personal done legally.

Where I live now, forget it!

My moms 1973 Plymouth Fury 3 ex police car about 130 mph when I was around 17
My 1968 chevelle convertible 120 mph 15 years ago on a highway it ran 12.90 quarter times at the track .
My 1998 Kawasaki zx7rr 270 Kphr (162 mph)
My 1968 Charger RT - 100 mph last summer on a very open road .

The roads are just too full with traffic now and the penalties are worse with either an accident or
Fine .

Another problem I'm wrestling with is the lack of Z-rated (or higher) tires for 15" rims. The best I can find are rated at 118mph. Anyone know of 15" street tires rated higher???? (not that I'd ever go that fast) ;)

If it was done on ANY public road...the OP,or any other person driving 198 mph, is an idiot!!!

And the 'newer' cars means that the ones that they can download are starting to get kinda old. IIRC, you can download the OBDII system going back to 96. A friend of mine has a son that's an accident investigator and I'll ask him how far back they can go....
And new cars can be hacked & assumed control of.....NO ****!!!!

Long time ago, 140 mph in my Dad's 66 427 Corvette.

I'm thinking it's the cars made in the last several years that can be hacked. There has been some reports of it too iirc. I'd like someone try and hack my 95 yard cart :D

My guess is that the new cars that can do tricks like self-parallel parking and advanced cruise control, auto braking, etc are the ones that could be interfered with by "hacking" to actually assume any kind of control.
For now "hacking" of cars would be for information only. Self-driving cars are another matter.
That leads my mind to wonder what a motivation would be to "hack" a self-driving car? --To cause a wreck for fun? To bring the car home to steal it?

Sorry but its not my job to judge. I too have made hi speed bad decisions.

Have just got to ask. What type of idiot pulls an 18 wheeler into the left lane on a hill to pass knowing dam well in isn't going to happen? Then slows traffic for miles because the right lane is occupied.
There are two sides to every story.

Idiots!! That word fits LOTS of people. I curse guys out on the CB all day long for **** like that. At least that, as dumb as it is, doesn't kill people.

We must live in a different world that this has never caused anyone injury or lose of life.

I had a super coupe thunderbird I had up to 140 one night coming home on 95 .

My dakota R/T I buried the speedo and was running about the same on 95 .

I had a mack rolloff that I heard was fast I got it up 90 when i got back to the shop with it I cut it back by the linkage so the driver couldn't mess with it .

Talking on a CB’s is a lot like just simply talking on your cell phone. Riding my Harley down the road I almost get T boned, another day, run off the road from a lady in a SUV just deifting across 3 lanes of traffic, yet another time, a bunch of kids jumping around in there car with Cracker Jack box drivers license running my mail box over, I’ve been rear ended on my bike once and in my car 3 times from cell phone talkers, OH! so much fun riding on 2 wheels and watching others chat in the phone while your life is on the line.

Yep, just like CB’s!

I also love the morning “Do your make up in the mirror” girls! There fun to watch!
