I am ( unbelievably ) having a hard time finding the correct bypass hose for a 273" engine I took out of a '67 Belvedere. It had a Holley intake on it, but the hose does not look altered. It is roughly 13/16" at water pump end, and 1"-1 1/16" at manifold end. Anybody have a good part # for this hose ? Thanks.

It sounds like you have the 1969 and earlier SB cast iron water pump. They used the 13/16" ID bypass hose. Your intake likely was made for the 1970 and later SB aluminum water pump. They used the larger 1" ID bypass hose.

Here is a pic of a early cast iron water pump with a adapter fitting that allows you to use it with the larger 1" ID bypass hose.

I do not believe that you will find a bypass hose with 13/16" ID at one end and 1" ID at the other end.

Thanks for the info. You seem to be right on all counts. What's funny is that the hose that I took off (split near intake end ) does have the correct ID's. I also found a Dayco hose that their specs show to be 1.06" and .81" ID's, but ended up being .81" at both ends. So I ended up sleeving the water pump nipple and using the 1" square hose.

I never knew I had that "adapter" fitting on that water pump until I went through my collection of used water pumps to take some measurements for this post. I'm wondering if any one is selling that fitting today? It sure would come in handy when changing to a newer intake on a pre 70 small block.

Probably never see another one ! I didn't ask whether you had another one or knew where to get one because, no way did I want to get involved in trying to remove the nipple from mine. And then tap it ? Can't believe mine is screw in. This is for my kids car, and I needed him back on the road, so I don't have to get up at 6:15 am to drive him to school !! At some point MAY replace pump, which would also get the lower hose placement on the correct side, I imagine. Engine is in '71 Valiant.
